Re: Korg Monotribe ?
Kinda let down by this. For the price a (modded) Monotron is still a better buy.

Re: Roland Connect - Countdown!
I completely agree that Boss is their saving grace. I actually just bought a Boss DD-3.
I'm sure this has been stated but this whole promotion tactic seems awful similar to the Kronos.
"Prepare to be amazed." - Korg
"Prepare for a new musical beginning." - Roland

Re: Trent Reznor on The Social Network score
I really liked the soundtrack, but I didn't know he wrote it. The video was cool.

Re: Roland Space Echo
You think a Memory Man sounds more like a tape echo than the RE-20? Have you ever heard a tape echo? Did I say that? NO. The Deluxe Memory Man sounds like a Deluxe Memory Man. To my ears it sounds great and a lot better . You think the RE-20 sounds like real tape echo or the real thing...

Re: Roland Space Echo
I played a RE-20 and it sounded alright but still very sterile. My big box Deluxe Memory Man is analog and to my ears a lot better. I'm a guitar player and not a synth player though.
Hoping that a COSM pedal is going to sound like a real tape echo is wishful thinking IMO.

Re: Synths for Minimal Acid.
I got a B-Stock Alesis Micron for $100. I wasn't planning on getting it but for that kind of deal I couldn't pass it up. TBH I was starting lean towards it anyway. I could always sell and get something different if I don't like it. Now I have: Korg Monotron (Analog Ribbon Synth) Boss DR-110 (Analog ...

Re: em-1/micron as newb gear
Thanks for the heads up. I just ordered one. Wasn't planning on getting the Micron but I have to say I really do love the sounds.

Re: Synths for Minimal Acid.
I was just joking around about dubstep.
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'm on the look out and hopefully I'll be able to try a EMX.
Peace

Re: Synths for Minimal Acid.
The EMX will cover the DR-110 drum sounds but allow you more tweaking, and you won't have to worry that you can't sync it, like with the DR-110. Buy the EMX and you can sell the DR-110. My only fear with the EMX-1 is every video on You Tube is demoing dub step. I loath dub step. (No offence to any ...

Re: Synths for Minimal Acid.
I got my DR-110 and I think that will be good enough for drum machines. I really like that sound, kind of like a cleaned up TR-606 thing. So from my notes: Micron: Pros: Great sound, keyboard etc.. Cons: Complex interface. (compared to others) EMX-1: Pros: Good sound, easy too use. Cons: Little more...

Re: so who's shelled out for an iPad?
My brother has one... I will admit the Korg MS-20 iPad app was pretty cool. Although I still think it is more fun to just mess with a Monotron vs. software. I didn't get to try the Electribe app but my guess is that it would be even cooler!

I play guitar along with it.cartesia wrote:I think the issue you will have with just drum machines like those is unless you mod them they have completely fixed sounds.. minimal soundscapes rely alot upon evolving sounds.
DR-110 has a trigger out jack, could I use that trigger out jack with the TR-626?

Re: Synths for Minimal Acid.
I'm thinking of just getting a another drum machine and waiting to find the right synth. Is there anyway I could trigger a DR-110 with a TR-626?

Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.
Some one tried to sell me a DR-660 for $299. I nearly laughed in his face.
