Re: Buying first synth, totally overwhelmed by the choices.
Don't know how "gritty" it can be but the Roland JD XI seems like something you might be into- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV1h6ZkUk8s Or an Ensoniq ESQ-1 with a used external effect processor. Though may be to 'gritty'. ? (not really "knoby" but very good user interface. Or as the poster above ...

If cost in no concern DSI Prophet 12 and Moog Voyager. Obviously can't afford ether of these, but they'd be pretty cool.

Re: Sound Design Intro for App Synth Users
Sounds Good. My advice is to read a basic tutorial than just muck around. I'm guessing the you already own an iPad, so the cost for a single app will be small. Just look at the reviews and buy something that is a simple analog subtractive synth. You've got nothing to lose. Though you'll probably wan...

Re: Microkorg / Korg R3 / Roland Gaia (Looking for 80s sound
Stay away from the Gaia, it sounds like cheap plastic. Funny that. I remember that's what was said about the Juno 106 back around '84, '85. I'd say the 106 is still controversial, like the Gaia. But they've both been used on a ton of good Albums. Personally I think they both sound pretty dece...

Sub Phatty vs Slim Phatty/Little Phatty (filter)
Hi guys. Looking at buying a Moog Sub phatty. However I have one concern. The filter. I'm someone who isn't prepared to spend lot of $$$ on a synth that can't sound smooth and creamy. All the reviews/demos seem to obsess over how "gritty" the filter can sound, while neglecting the smoother side of t...

Midi Loop Recorder
Hey, I was wondering if anybody knew of any really cheap simple hardware midi recorders. Preferably something like a guitar loop recorder pedal, but records midi instead? So I can play a loop into it using a synth and than instantly play it back and edit the sound?

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey
Sounds fine to me. Guess it's just taste. Obviously they're on a convention centre floor, so they ain't going to be building perfect patches, but I think the videos give one a pretty good idea of what it will sound like.
Though the retro sound one isn't obviously.

Re: Futuresonus Parva Preview
Yea, as a player I'm definitely considering this and may sell my tetra to help fund it. Its about time someone designed a product like this. Sure its not knob rich, but it looks like you can edit it easily from the front panel. It has 8 voices :D . Much better then 4. 4 is a terrible number. If your...

Re: An affordable Analog Poly
Also looks like it has flexible keyboard splits. Dave Smith better watch out This product may threaten his tetra and mopho x4!
