Re: MPC1000 vs. Elektron stuff!

MPC1000 for $300 beats all. seriously. besides being a great drum machine, it is a very very flexible sampler, especially with JJos, it will quickly become the center of your rig..

Re: Korg and Roland -- old again

Expression-wise one thing that I enjoyed, and that was cheap, was a volume footpedal. Also a dual footswitch for my MPC. Adding my feet into the mix definitely added -instantly- another nice level of expression. And no I wasn't the master of the footpedal (footswitches are a bit simpler to integrate...

Re: Korg and Roland -- old again

Expression, as if without Poly aftertouch I cant fully express myself and so why even turn on the instruments... yeah i'm at that level. you guys too apparently. There is nothing in between monkeys slapping at keys and Art Tatum? Expression, so like Kenny G? yeah sweet... Nothing less than a continu...

Re: Korg and Roland -- old again

I love it when these discussions turn to expression as some sort of judgment scale for the value of an instrument. As if expression is everyone's goal or something.

Re: Korg Monotribe ?

yeah... the ukelele of groove boxes.. thats it! hahahaha its going to be a fun box for sure. hackers might be into noise because for the most part with circuit bending at least, thats half of what you get. perhaps this will open a few new doors for the masses. ? This would be fun to sync with a U cr...

Re: Korg Monotribe ?

Think of it as a relatively cheap platform sold with the potential for easy modding designed in. They give us a decent basic feature set, make it real analog, good filter, fun to use as it is, and they also give us schematics and internal patch points for modding ease. If they released the source co...

Re: Roland Connect - Countdown!

Roland is like an aged primadonna whose skin is wrinkled, yet is desperately trying to look like in her old and glorious days. But all this makeup, facelift and botox can't distract over the fact that her time has long gone and that there are younger alternatives. Thanks Roland, but no thanks. Oh? ...

how does the ability to model a piano have anything to do with modeling an analog synth?

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

I was in the preorder beta group, so as for wait time I don't know how much longer it will be for the next batch. I think that everything is out and getting assembled, so it shouldn't be too much longer. CV breakout panel, Colin is going to be getting boards and panels/rack cases made for these too,...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

I haven't played with that yet, but it is definitely part of Cirklon. the basic (basic, ha ha) P3 type patterns are fundamentally monophonic sequencer lines like we're used to. Of course they can quickly span way beyond normal. Then in Cirklon there are the CK patterns. These are where poly phonic r...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

Songs are the highest level organization of things in Cirklon. A song is a string of "scenes". A scene is a set of tracks. On each track is a pattern where you program your lines. You mute/unmute/solo tracks(patterns) as you play. You can switch scenes (groups of tracks) as its playing. you can save...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

you can read the P3 3.0 manual on the sequentix site, that will get you up to speed with the aux events, which are the truly uinque thing about P3/Cirklon.. other than that its pretty easy / standard.

Re: First Purchases

Sounds like a solid setup for whatever type of music you'd want to make,... Enjoy man! get a decent mixer with more channels than you think you'll need too.. I started similarly SK1 and multi effect pedal, then a Juno 6, then a 707, then circuit bent the SK-1, then built Gene Stopp's ASM-1, all with...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

There is no manual! Im thinking of writing a "getting started' type of thing.. once my life calms down a bit (two weeks) the machine is pretty easy to get used to.. I have been asking questions and getting answers almost immediately form the yahoogroup, so I have not really been hindered. Also, sinc...

Re: Sequentix Cirklon pre-order!

Mine is here and has been a joy to figure out and use. The case is very well made -solid, not just folded sheetmetal, the corners are welded and ground , it is a heavy piece of kit!! Beautiful, large display. A dedicated sequencer with a display like this is a joy to use. Mind you that the OS is sti...
