Re: Roland Juno-DS61 vs KORG Krome 61

I can't really advise you, but I can tell you I was very impressed with the Juno DS series. if I were looking for a big board, workstation-esque, The DS88/61 would be a good choice.

Re: Synth you'd buy again if...

Without a doubt, the DSI Mono Evolver KB. I've had other synths come and go, but still finding new ways to surprise myself with the MEK.

Re: Opinions on upcoming TR-808 and SH-101 Boutiques

Just had a go with the new SE-02, and it is all it's cracked up to be. Lovely sound, small but engaging interface. I am still in love with the JP-08 I've had for nearly 2 yrs. The Boutique series have been exceptional, imo.

Re: Roland Studio Electronics - SE02

I will have one of these. Already have a JP08 and TB03, and quite like the form factor of these little guys. I don't really count them among my full sized synths, but rather as really awesome sounding travel toys. This one has me waiting impatiently.

Re: First Synth: Korg MS-20 Mini vs Roland Boutique Synth

Between the two mentioned, I would suggest the JP08. Everything on the front panel to learn basic synthesis with, though the sliders are a tad small. The sound however, is huge.
Didn't care for the MS20 mini very much, but it too would be a great learning tool.

Re: Analog/Hybrid synth recommendations?

First thing that comes to mind is a DSI Evolver. The Mono Evolver Keyboard is truly a thing a beauty, and even after 6 yrs with it, I'm still finding new sounds.

Re: Novation Ultranova is surprisingly cool

I don't own one, but my buddy has one in his studio. Can't think of a reason not to love it, nothing sounds quite like it, and it'll get as wacky as you can imagine. Very under-rated indeed.

Re: Evolver vs BSII

I've been totally lost inside my Evolver KB for over 5 yrs, and still amazed with the depth and complexity of it.
Enjoy it, push it, and be amazed.

Re: Waldorf Blofeld encoders - will stand the test of time?

I've owned a Blo kb for about5 yrs or so. The main encoder got a bit sloppy in the last year, but seems to have settled down now after I gave it a good twisting both directions. Hoping for the best, long term, as it's a simply marvelous machine otherwise.

Re: Korg Minilogue vs Yamaha Reface CS

and I owned the CS Reface for almost a year, but recently sold it. For the good, I love the feel of those mini keys, and the synth engine is vast and sounds fantastic. Lack of presets is a drag, and the "shared" EG is a pain. Otherwise, I would agree with Meatball and say neither would be my choice ...

Re: Best synth for keyboard sounds

I'd ask to define what you mean by "keyboard sounds". Are we talking piano, organ, etc? or something else. The Virus will do anything that the Pro 2 or Prophet 8 can do, just different flavors.
