Re: Firewire interface/mixer for G5
That last line was a little bit tongue in cheek. :P But yeah, too new = no G5 support, and I don't really want to drop a grand on this either. I'd also consider a 1U/2U audio interface with enough channels and strictly on-screen virtual mixer... This setup is up for sale locally, but not sure if I w...

Firewire interface/mixer for G5
Lots of mixer talk lately... well, here's mine. I'd like to replace my analog (only) mixer with something that does the same job but also acts as a multi-channel audio interface. Here are some rough requirements: - At least 14 analog input channels (my current Behringer 1832FX has 6 mono + 4 stereo ...

Shure M44-7 positioning
Figure there's a few others with vinyl setups on here. Looking for info... I got a pair of Shure M44-7 carts for my Numark TT200s. I'm trying to figure out if I should go with Numark's cartridge positioning instructions or Shure's, which are contradicting. Here's where I'm torn - the headshells ( th...

Re: Casio Previa PX 130 USB to Midi Connection
This little box will do what you want - it acts as a USB-DIN MIDI converter:

It's a bit pricey for what it is but Kenton make quality gear.

Re: Vega's Odyssey (Original Theme)
Cool stuff! Neat to see all the spacey effects being played live.
BTW really enjoyed your Popcorn cover & Crockett's Theme as well.

Re: Let's talk about... monitor placement
2) The one on the left is pretty much behind that monitor. Sound will be reflecting off the back of the monitor and ruining your imaging. Got to get it out from there. I would move the mixer and put the speaker on top of that computer or whatever it is. I thought about setting it that way, but... t...

Re: Let's talk about... monitor placement
Yeah, I'm going to move the CRT as soon as I get a longer cable :-x . Generally I compose/sequence on that machine and record/mix/etc. on the little laptop docked to the LCD. I'd like both displays to be straight ahead but I'm having space issues. So, I can't bring the left speaker in any closer, bu...

Let's talk about... monitor placement
Trying to approach better monitor positioning without spending any more money. This is what I've come up with so far; not ideal yet but somewhat improved over what I had: http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x308/jay200mph/Studio/monitors-placed.jpg http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x308/jay200mph/St...

Re: New relaxing track - "Winds of Remembrance"
Man, your 'alphas' are more polished and professional sounding than my finished tracks. I can't even start to think of ways this one (V2) could be improved. Reminds me a bit of one of my all-time favourite game OSTs: Aquaria - which blew me away the first time I heard it! I like the 'interlude' vers...

Re: Acer W3 Win8 tablet - anyone use one?
SunVox is pretty cool. It was designed for tablets but is available on just about anything, and the Windows version is free. I have it on my 7" Android and it's usable but I do think it's better with a keyboard attached.

Here's another one if you're near Toronto. Although I'd be surprised if it hasn't been snapped up yet - the advert is over a day old!

I don't know if this does what you want, but it looks like it should? Certainly has a lot of sync options. On E bay for $10 right now ($40 BIN).
MOTU MTP/AV

Might be worth checking out as an alternative.

Built from a single sinewave
Thought some of you guys might enjoy this too. Every sound you hear is built from a pure 440 Hz sine wave (sampled) with some sort of effects chain (mostly cheap hacks!) added to bang it into what I wanted. Why?! To enter a compo of course! "Exhibiting Sines of Madness" (ambient trance, 12...

Re: New stuff from Roland!
I want Roland to re-issue the S-MPU401/AT ISA card and the CMU-800 interface for the Commodore 64! Why haven't they done this yet?! Everybody knows you can make a killing re-issuing vintage gear.
( ^^ only partly sarcastic - I really would buy those!
