Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

I despise mini-keys! That said, I never use the keyboard on my MkII Ody even though Kevin Lightner restored it to better than new condition with new bushings, contacts, etc. I use a Kenton USB Solo to midi it to my Kurz PC1se. That way, I can use the pitch/mod wheels AND aftertouch - avoiding the pi...

Re: Korg to release ARP Odyssey

From the prototype pic, seems to be based on the later MkII version. And yes - there is an additional switch in the filter section. I hope they don't go "mini" with it.

Re: David Sancious's comment on vintage gear (keyboard mag)

FYI David Sancious kicks the everliving snot out of 99,9% of the keyboard players. The Minimoog and Polymoog work on tracks like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELm3ZprM-iw and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jW1Rt60XcE is astounding. Pretty much the entire discography is on Youtube (good thing his ...

Re: Elektron A4 love? hate? indifference?

Anyone want to discuss using it with external mono analogs using the CV/Gate outs? That's mostly why I'm interested in the A4. Not that I need 4 more mono analogs - have enough already! But, using it to control my Ody/Little Brother, Slim Phatty, MiniBrute, and Dark Energy seems like it could really...

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

Thanks to both Marc and Nick for their excellent reviews. I'm glad Nick pointed out the need for a converter to track pitch. The CV difference with all my other analogs is about the only thing that does not make me want one. Hopefully someone (Korg?) will make a new expander module that will include...

Re: Some thoughts on the Arp Odyssey

I bought my MkII 2810 (with 4035 filter) back in 1975 - spent so much time with it back then and explored every aspect of it...the possibilities seemed endless. Had it totally restored by Kevin Lightner a couple years ago, and was so excited to have it back to better-than-new condition, that I got a...

Re: Minibrute Meet The MS-20 Mini

I was going to edit my previous post and suggest Kenton come out with a compact converter. I have their USB Solo and it will convert, but I already have it dedicated to my Ody/Little Brother. If Korg was going to add Midi/USB, I would think they might also want to include an output of V/Oct. I don't...

Re: Minibrute Meet The MS-20 Mini

Except for the need for the additional CV/Hz converter needed. That's a bummer because I wanted to use my MiniBrute/Dark Energy/CP251 combo, and don't want to spend more $$ and take up space with a voltage converter. Not that I need another mono analog, but the MS20 mini does look tempting.....to us...

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?

Still have my ARP Odyssey MKII, bought in 1975 (I think I was about 15 at the time). Had it completely refurbished a couple of years ago by Kevin Lightner. Of course I'm still using it - found an ARP "Little Brother" on ebay in perfect condition to keep it company. The added osc. and LFO really adds...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

I'm starting to wonder how many of you who got one actually were on a waiting list? Looks like you all bypassed the legit customers who are still rightfully waiting for theirs... Just kidding, but still, I'd hate to be waiting for one I reserved months ago and read about how you got yours...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

Got mine yesterday; extremely impressed so far and I've only scratched the surface. Doesn't just do harsh/cold stuff like a lot of the videos (although that's a blast too :D ). Anyone else having trouble with the audio input/gate function? I could only trigger the envelope with a few drum machine s...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

I got the firmware update installed after re-downloading the app. For some reason, my orig. download had the .mbf file with a 0 MB. After downloading, the file was 142 MB and everything went well. I'm on Windows 7. I haven't noticed any issues with the side panels - in fact they are more solid than ...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

Unfortunately - this arrived before I had chance to diagnose a USB/Midi issue with my rig and can't update the firmware. So I'll be spending some hours contorting myself behind my rack and stands, chasing cable runs, etc. What firmware issues are there? Hopefully it's something that I can live with...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

Actually - mine did arrive today! Expected it tomorrow at the earliest, but I'm lucky in that I live in suburb outside of Kansas City and MF shipping warehouse is in KC and UPS hub is a few miles away. UPS hadn't even updated it's status to "out for delivery" and the doorbell rang. Here it is! First...
