Re: Arpeggiators and MIDI

or, use a controller keyboard routed into your daw and record your playing. at the same time, have that track send midi to your arp's input, and then record the arp's output to a seperate track.

Re: How would a JD990 sound without the Vintage card but...

that would be too clever!

but just think, you might end up finding cooler waves to use.

if you got the wave list for both onboard and the vintage expansion you could at least swap a saw for a saw for eg.

Re: How would a JD990 sound without the Vintage card but...

i think you'd have to manually change the waves of each osc to the onboard ones for each patch.

Re: Yamaha SY-35 vs Kawai K4

there's a k4r for sale on this forum for $65

it's great for grungy/weird/metallic, but can also conjure some decent VA pads, basses and leads. certainly a surprising synth when you spend a bit of time with it.

Hardware samplers in the age of the DAW

Been thinking about using an old school sampler to see if it can impart some mojo into my tracks. Would be interested to find out how people incorporate their samplers into their DAW based setup. I think if I were to use h/w I'd probably still sequence in the daw and then right at the end when I'm h...

Re: Studio Electronics ATC-1 vs. ATC-X vs. ATC-Xi

i have the original atc-1 with the 4 internal filters too. also have the SEM hi-pass switch installed. it's the only h/w synth i own that i'm actually attached to. i like the sound of the discreet vca mod but i'm not sure if i'd prefer to keep the triangle wave, surely the triangle sounds sine-ish e...

Re: EMU MP7 vs RS7000

a few months back i was going through this same quandry. i really wanted to move away from the computer screen and had narrowed my choices down to these 2 machines. after weighing the 2 up for quite a while and because workflow is really imprtant to me i ended up with an XL-7. the sequencer is very ...

Re: Ensoniq ASR-X Pro sample slicing

there is an unofficial update to the OS which you can find on the asrx mailing list over at yahoo groups which has a new function called xplode which does exactly this. it also adds a few other features too. it will probably take some digging to find it. but it's there. believe me ;)
