Re: What synth = what car?

I love it! I use the synth:car analogy to explain the difference between different synths to my friends, it works pretty well except I haven't really found a good car feature to use for comparing analog/digital synths. I guess it would help to know more about cars -_-

Re: Multitimbral synths midi question

Well hardware wise I actually only have a roland SH-201 :/ I do a lot of synth-programming and composing with Reason and some Native Instruments programs but I want to delve more into hardware. I'm completely enamored by Vangelis and other artists/groups that use multiple synths for that semi-ambien...

Re: Multitimbral synths midi question

Fantastic, thank you! So with just a multitimbral synth and midi controllers you could do this without needing a computer? and what's the term for 'one channel mode' that I'd find on the specs of a controller? the novation and m-audio axiom controllers seem like they're nice enough that they would d...

Multitimbral synths midi question

For synths that are multitimbral (I'm wondering about the arturia origin particularly, but I'm also curious about any others), is it possible to use multiple midi controllers to control each layer? The Origin is 4-part multitimbral I believe, so say would you be able to use 3 controllers in addition...

Re: Moog Slim/little Phatty vs Voyager RME

Yeah, don't judge all LPs by a GC floor model. It's not that the LP's keys break. They just don't feel nice--thin and a bit clanky. Problem is there's really nothing else to go by in terms of hands-on test driving :/ I'm in the Boston area and guitar center is really all there is in terms of music ...

Re: Moog Slim/little Phatty vs Voyager RME

Ok yeah everyone be nice, considering I think keytarist was actually right regarding the phatty having cv expandability options. I don't have the Voyager but I have the LP and will say I don't really find myself thinking "oh man, if only I had one more osc and filter!" If you're interested in tradit...

Re: Moog Slim/little Phatty vs Voyager RME

So I mean modulation-wise it seems like I'm pretty much covered in the future if I get a phatty, as far as sound goes would you guys say the extra filter and oscillator on the voyager makes a big difference?

Re: Moog Slim/little Phatty vs Voyager RME

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxx_YbHyBig so is the little phatty he's using one of the tribute editions or whatever that have extended control voltage capabilities? how much does that add to it? I mean the way it looks like most moogerfoogers cost, I might as well just buy the voyager instead of t...

Moog Slim/little Phatty vs Voyager RME

So I've got my heart set on a moog and I've done about as much research and youtube-trawling as I think I can bear. Basically I've decided the highest I'm willing to pay is for a used voyager RME, with a little phatty or a slim phatty + midi controller as the second option. What I'm wondering is in ...
