Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Curious, are these cards also capable of being used to replace PCM cards? Or only the data cards? Forgive me if this is a stupid question or has been answered already. Electrically, this is possible (there is an option to expose one 4M card rather than 16 256K or 8 512K cards). In practice however,...

Re: Roland D-50 MIDI transfer speed

After receiving a chip with the correct firmware, MIDI is now fully working, and I can send SysEx dumps at regular speed again!

Re: Roland D-50 MIDI transfer speed

UPDATE I kept having this issue, and I decided to give the musiTronics M.EX with speed system (which replaces a 12 MHz quartz with a 16 MHz one) a try to see if the speed system helps with my MIDI issues. But it got worse. Now I get random bit flips pretty much constantly, and a sequence of three n...

The first two sentences you quoted include all the information you need to know:
- Cards are currently out of stock!

Re: Yamaha RX-5 ROM format parser/extractor

Truth is, I am already swamped in project so I'd rather spend the time I would have to invest into this into more urgent things.

Re: Yamaha RX-5 ROM format parser/extractor

Hello Anders, I have compiled the program from my first post of this topic into a Windows EXE file. You can download it here: https://sagagames.de/stuff/rx5extract.zip Drop a ROM file on the executable and it should extract the WAV files in the same folder as the EXE file. This was only tested on th...

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Technically it is very certainly possible (SmartMedia is similarly "dumb" like earlier card storage), but it is most definitely out of scope for our own projects. (And while I do have a couple of synths with SmartMedia, a 128MB card is more than enough for my usage.) If you are worried about SmartMe...

No, if our status would have changed we would have updated the thread - we cannot tell you yet when the next batch will be available.

"or not" is the correct one. Real life is just keeping us busy right now. ;)

I don't think this quite matches your description 100%, but this great site is always worth mentioning when it comes to drum samples: http://samples.kb6.de/

If there is another way, then I'm not aware of it. No, seriously, adding your name to the notification list is the only thing you can do. There is no secret priority list or anything.

The D-50 has 512KB of samples. It's a well-known fact that was confirmed once again by actually ripping the samples. ;)

Re: Are software synths disposable instruments?

Unfortunately, they are disposable. Just ask anyone who's used Propellerheads ReBirth, or Native Instruments B4 or Pro-53. They are obsolete once your DAW graduates to a new OS version but they can't. You could, though, keep them running on a separate box (or VM) and have a direct hardware (or viru...

Re: Synth1 VST is a monster! Anything similar?

Synth1 is also a favourite of mine and my go-to synth on the PC when I just want to quickly model a sound. I think its name cousin Sylenth1 is a lot like Synth1 on steroids, so maybe you should give it a try. It's not free, though.
