Re: rackmount rompler for orchestral and acoustic
For a lot of the sounds from the MYST soundtrack, Robyn Miller used a proteus mps +, with the same Proteus 2 sounds. I liked that soundtrack. I like the Proteus 2 sounds.

Re: just me? or do youtube demos all suck
I happen to agree. My theory is that those who own synths and do know how to use them don't post demos because they'd rather make nice sounds/music for fun/profit. Then again, it may be true that a certain percentage of the synth-owning population is less than adventurous. Collectors that are intere...

Re: Suggest me a synth of indie/electro
Regarding the filters - are you getting discrete steps when you change the cutoff in the editing mode/section? Those steps will most likely go away if you use an envelope/lfo, or if you assign cutoff to the mod wheel. I've never worked with the cs1x. However, from a DSP perspective, you want to use ...

Re: Suggest me a synth of indie/electro
Have you considered keeping your cs1x for piano/organ sounds and buying a synthesizer for the synth sounds? You could set them up on a two tier stand and be in pseudo dual manual heaven. You should probably go VA so you can access a nice variety of sounds without paying a fortune. I'm no VA expert, ...

Re: Casio CZ-1
The reso waves are a bit like sync.
Combining two waveforms makes a nice sub-octave tone because they are played sequentially, not mixed.
I believe.
I've read through the Casio phase distortion patents, haven't ever played with one of these yet though.

Re: Fractal Waveform?
If you've tried the early versions of Bazille from u-he, there is 'fractal resonance.' This is actually sync casio-style with an audio AM to smooth out the inharmonics. If you want a 'fractal inspired' waveform that is still musically useful, you could preserve at least the zero crossings at the sta...

Ah. 41 centimeters, according to the manual
I had checked the manual before posting, but realized just now the dimensions were hidden among MIDI implementation information.
Foolish of me, sorry everyone.
Thanks kindly

Proud Akai s 950 owners, feeling bored? own a tape measure?
Howdy all, I'm trying to determine how deep the akai s 950 is. That is, how deep a rack case would have to be to fully accommodate one. From pictures, they look deep. If anyone knows how big their rack is or can measure from face to the back of the thing... ...I'd be grateful. I have no powerful inc...

Re: Matrix 6/1000 - Soft Mod Glitches - how bad is it really
I am a Matrix-1000 owner. I have never noticed that the modulation routings become "flakey" or somehow unresponsive the more routings that are applied. Ah. This is good news. I've read some funny reports, must have been someone who didn't know what they were doing. What does slow the synth WAY down...

Matrix 6/1000 - Soft Mod Glitches - how bad is it really?
Howdy, To those who have owned and/or patched anything from the Oberheim Matrix 6/r/1000 line, how much does the modulation glitching impede getting music out of the machine? I've heard reports of the slow CPU being overloaded by complex patches. Of course, the envelopes are supposedly slow to begin...

I remember reading a page where a guy did a DIY fan installation to stop overheating problems.

Re: When buying from Used Selling shops/auctions
I don't have very much insight on this, However, if the place you're buying from allows returns or some way to try it beforehand, that's usually a good sign. Sorry if that is a little obvious. Also, a lot of the time, sellers will charge less for something because it's not in good cosmetic condition...
