Re: Analog, VA or..... the future?

For instance, any vst, when sent through a decent pre-amp, analog vca, or analog filter sounds just dandy (much better than a Juno-106 IMHO). I need to try that out. Just need to get my hands on a standalone or patchable filter. I still don't think anything will compare to the glitchy whimsy that i...

Re: Analog, VA or..... the future?

People figured out a while ago how to express their opinion without ridiculous condescension. To me... in my opinion, believing that my hardware and analog synths sound better to my ear, through my use, than the experience I've had with virtual gear isn't condescension. It's fact... for me. While m...

Re: Analog, VA or..... the future?

Evidently you? I'm really sorry that my VST garbage and the dubstep pumping out of them as I ride along on the bus offends you, but being a bit of a d**k about it won't help you. It just invites conflict. Hey, do what you do, and enjoy it. Just understand that when someone brings it up for public d...

Re: Analog, VA or..... the future?

I'm bored with all the digital and VST garbage my friends are using. I'm hard pressed in my demographic to find other people who are into hardware... of any type. Maybe I'm just a fool who wastes his money on analog consoles, polysynths, digital hardware, and outboard effects processors, when really...

Re: TR-707 House Classics (with analog synths) - youtube

I love coming on here, and seeing people who've inspired me on my synth travels. I just got into it within the past few years, and your drum machine videos really got me interested. Sweet. Thanks!

Harlem Nights and Jexus... h**l yes.

Re: Gear Envy.

So, what's the bottom line: there's always someone who can pull things out of something c**p. That's why it's - at least for me - rather pointless to get overly worried about waveforms being a few percent off, about filters that are a few percent less smooth, about converters, etc. etc. etc. That's...

Re: Just won a Casio AZ-1 keytar on ebay!

I actually totally dig the Casio logo. Vintage Roland is cooler, but I love the big block letters on my CZ-1. Additionally, the CZ-1 was mentioned above. I like mine. It gets grimy and glitchy when I push it, which is pretty sweet. The chorus is s**t though. Ahh, everybody has their preferences. I f...

Re: Gear Envy.

And in that bubble, inspiration often comes. I like your approach. I'm kind of sick of the whole minimal set up argument. It just seems like people are rationalizing choices to sell off their gear, because they can't really afford it. Optimally, with an unlimited budget, would you really stick to j...

Re: Easier way to edit sounds!

Yeah, you'll just need a program to sequence it (most of the DAW's on the market offer that), and an interface that can send MIDI.

Personally I run ProTools out through a Digi 002 into my hardware. Works fine.

Re: Gear Envy.

I find myself bothered more by people who gain tons of success off little work, than people who are lucky enough to amass a pile of respectable gear. I might respect Ke$ha a bit more if she had a Moog Modular, but it'll still get me peeved when Lady Gaga's producers, with their budgets, use vengeanc...

Re: to fix or to sell, Juno-106

Thanks, my spirit to fix the Juno up has been re-instilled by the tech who got the power issue solved. Now that I can play it, I can start to contemplate how I'll begin to get it running again. Thanks for the good links, and I've heard so much about the synthspa, that I'll probably have to send my b...

Re: to fix or to sell, Juno-106

Went to another tech who will probably be building a x0xb0x for me... problem solved. maybe not as cheaply as I had hoped, but no more Juno probs... except all of that other stuff.

Re: to fix or to sell, Juno-106

Update... Got the Juno back from the shop today and the outlook is grim. Apparently, besides a new voice chip, a few sliders, some cosmetic rehab, and a good cleaning, my Juno also needs a new power transformer. My tech (admittedly a guitar/amp oriented guy) says he can't personally acquire one, and...
