Re: Gear Trading Thread

I'm sure it's a longshot, but is anyone interested in a Yamaha RY-30 drum machine? Mine's a little beaten up and the wallwart works but will need replacing soon. I'd rather not sell it outright because it has cosmetic issues and some people are sticklers about that. It has all buttons and sliders, e...

Re: Sequential Circuits Drumtraks front panel controls dead

Thanks, Don. I was finally able to borrow a frequency counter from a co-worker. It looks like the clock is working fine. Is there anything else I can check with it while I have it?

Sequential Circuits Drumtraks front panel controls dead

I'm pretty new to vintage equipment and very new to repairing it but I am eager to learn so I bought myself a dead Drumtraks recently in the hopes of learning a few things about diagnostics and repair. Luckily I have a neighbor who is a retired electrical engineer who is helping me but he has no exp...

Re: been wanting a Pro One but i just tried a Prophet 5 and.

I own a Pro One. It was my first vintage synth and everything I read prior to buying it was "make sure you get the J-wire keyboard, the membrane one sucks." My bushings were ancient and I replaced them immediately. It made a big difference...at first. The keys felt like new after getting new bushing...

Re: Gear Trading Thread

I have an Ensoniq SQ80 that I recently rescued from craigslist. It's not quite my cup of tea, so I was hoping someone on here would want to trade for it. I'm really in the market for an analog string machine (Roland RS-09, RS-202, or comparable) or low-end analog poly (SCI Prophet 600), no DCOs. The...

Re: Some thoughts on the Arp Odyssey

yes! :agree: any old synth should be calibrated and any leaky/dead capacitors replaced before you decide how good it can sound. too many people buy a vintage synth expecting wonders and then some even later badmouth it because they don't know it's ganky. particularly if you've moved the synth in a ...

Re: Some thoughts on the Arp Odyssey

I want to add my 2 cents to this topic and maybe take it in a more philosophical direction. I've been lurking here for months and love the forums but I've never had anything to add until now. I wonder if us youngsters to the synth scene are spoiled or just inexperienced because I had the EXACT same ...
