Re: 1 good compressor: EL8 Distressor... or?
unless the compressor has an input gain control, it'd be advisable to use a pre of some kind to at least control the level of what you're feeding it. You may be able to do it without one, but with fewer settings being useful.

Roland Edirol PCR500 vs Roland D110
So I'm utterly baffled by the D110's midi functionality. Looks like a lot of it is in SysEx/hexcode/gibberish. I'd like to ideally make a buttonmapping on the PCR500 I've got that more or less turns it into a PG10. Is this possible? Can anyone point me in the right direction as far as where to begin...

Re: Boss syb3/5 performance and tracking
If I remember right, the main difference is the 3 has triangle wave and autowah modes (in addition to saw/square/waveshape modes) whereas the 5 has LFO modes for the saw and square waves, and an expression pedal input for doing manual filter sweeps.

Re: Boss syb3/5 performance and tracking
I've got a SYB5 and it tracks fine if you've got a compressor in front of it. it's that volume threshold that'll cause it to mistrack. Noteslides I haven't had problems with and it tracked my out of tune guitar fine so I don't think fretless will cause too much problem. You don't get much wiggle roo...

Re: Pros / Cons of Effects Processors
You can, however, simulate tape delay with AcidPro's stock plugins of compression, graphic distortion, a multihead delay, graphic vibrato, several amplitude modulation/tremolo units, a white noise sample and about four instances of the track you want to use with tape delay.

Re: Attn: Studio People / Re: Click Tracks
What is the context of the click track, what is the person playing, etc? In a band situation like Stab described, I find it better for everybody to just play the song and use that as a scratch track for recording separate instruments, but that's only if you want to go truly organic. yeah i've no pr...

I called them out on their 'first ever' claim on fb too, their marketing department is definitely been being misleading douches lately.

Attn: Studio People / Re: Click Tracks
How would you go about convincing someone that playing their music to a click track or metronome or just a really basic drum machine loop isn't going to compromise the "organic"-ness of it?
