Re: My D-50 bank is finished! (with download!)

been using this guy's D50 editor, works flawlessly (IF you go one-way transfer )
http://www.d50librarian.co.uk/

the only thing no to do is use the d-50 midi in/out simultaniously with this program or you'll lose a few voices
(but since they can be en/diabled in the program itself, it's easily solved)

Yeah, I'm not shooting the messenger ;) Although I can understand his justification, I would still expect VCOs on such a beast.

why not both DCO and VCO for that amount of money?

Re: New Schmidt Analog Synthesizer

$30K

SO, with a bit of luck, I could have a Jup 8, Synthex, P5, Wave 2.3, A6, Minimoog and Linndrum for that money

...but instead buy that?

Re: First synth - damn low budget

I scored a Roland D50 for €250 (with stand), a Roland JV-90 for €200 (with Orchestral expansion) all on the local 'craigslist' and have a hard time not spending more money on anything interesting below €350 :D Unless you want new or 'vintage' there's a lot to score, especially if you're not dead-set...

yeah I figured

It's more the 'mix' I'm trying to figure out, should be doable with something like Proteus VX and some eq/fx Right?

Hm, I'm guessing "The Sun Always Shines On TV" was done with the same setup

Though I'm wondering how they done the piano intro for that

Re: Building a MIDI Keyboard Into a Desk

I would take out a chunk of the desk then screw in a tray that can be covered with a plate when not in use (If I were to use a computer I'd make a sliding plate where my computer keyboard/mouse is placed upon) keeping in mind cooling and I might need to reach the cables, on/off switch, etc and that ...

Re: are the terms bandwidth/Q/resonance interchangeable?

Q, Resonance, Emphasis, Peak, Regeneration, and feedback are all the same when we're talking filters. Bandwidth is different, google it for a technical explanation. Does you ringmod work with audio? I think a ring mod is exponential, for control signals you would want a linear device. Hmm thought Q...

Re: Is leaving a synth on generally a bad habit?

Unless it has an LCD, tubes, or moving parts, or if your power is dirty, better to leave it on if you are going to use it again within a few hours Actually, with tubes it often also isn't a case with always switching off The standby switch set to "off" leaves the filament heated up, which increases...

Re: Turning Roland D50 into a module?

Hello, I have a D50 with half of the key springs missing. Just wondering would it be hard to fit the boards inside a box? Is this a crazy idea? Impossible? Nothing is impossible Believe the dynascan board and the benderunit are the only thing you can omit from a 'module' version The big problem is ...
