Hey,
Yep I fixed it. Turned out to be a transistor that was put in backwards when the tech repaired another issue.
Can you describe your issue, as it may or may not be the same.

Re: Highly Liquid UMR2
That's great you're manufacturing them. Highly Liquid made the UMR2 open source, which is super cool and hopefully keeps it going for some time to come. It's a great bit of kit.

Re: Yamaha SK20 signal bleed in mixer section
New issue discovered.
When the synth was plugged in for a while the transformer began to smoke. Is this a PSU issue?
The synth wasn't powered on, only plugged in (it had been powered on previously).

Re: Yamaha SK20 signal bleed in mixer section
OK, I checked the volume pedal input. There's strange behaviour there. I plugged in a Roland EV-5 foot pedal and at first it altered the volume of the respective sections (String or Mixed). Then it ceased affecting the volume. There was a smell of solder/component burn coming from the synth. There w...

Re: Yamaha SK20 signal bleed in mixer section
Thanks. Is this on the JK board? I did think about that, actually. But I can't see why it would cause the signal from one section to bleed into the other. Why might this be? Just to be clear as to what is happening (I realise a text description is not ideal!), the bleed occurs only on the Polysynth ...

Re: Yamaha SK20 signal bleed in mixer section
It seems that that trim pot only adjusts the Strings signal level into the Mixed output. Adjusting it makes no difference to the bleed unfortunately. Any other ideas?

Yeah. I'm not a comics dude so I don't have an opinion. But the tracks are cool

Re: Graphic comic based on my music video.
Excellent track, just wish it was longer! I watched some of the other videos, some great stuff there. Phase Shift is cool too.

Re: Yamaha SK20 signal bleed in mixer section
Hi,
Thanks. Yeah, it's only audible with the polysynth on.

Are there any Arduino based MIDI retrofits?
Highly Liquid doesn't seem to exist anymore and the UMR2 was a great universal MIDI retrofit for matrix-based keyboards. Which is a shame. It seems like Arduino would be ideal to DIY a MIDI retrofit though. There's loads of stuff showing how to turn matrix-based keyboards into MIDI controllers but n...

Yamaha SK20 signal bleed in mixer section
Hi, My SK20 has this issue where the Strings signal is audible in the Polysynth mixer output. To explain a little better, there is a mixer section for Organ, Strings, and Polysynth before the Master Volume and main output. When the String section fader is set to its minimum it can still be heard thr...

Re: General views of synthesizers when they were introduced?
I wrote a research paper for my degree on this (loosely). Look up elektronische musik on Proquest (you should have access through your university library to a lot of online papers and journals in case you didn't know). Synthesizers were initially located only in research institutions and large, expe...

Re: If music making is like film making
No probs. Actually, the cited works contain a bunch of good stuff that is far better written than mine (lots are available online) and some deals directly with the creative position of the DJ. This one in particular is a short (9 pages) but good read: “Rethinking Live Electronic Music: A DJ Perspect...

Re: If music making is like film making
If anyone is interested, I did a deep enough analysis in my thesis and I stuck it up online for anyone's perusal. Sections II and III are really where it deals with this sort of stuff. As a whole it's by no means exhaustive as there was a 10,000 word limit so I had to edit like crazy and leave a bun...
