Yamaha PF-10/15. Untapped potential

Hello forum! I'm back! For now... lol I bought myself an old Yamaha PF-10 from my old highschool. Overpaid for it, but the money gets reinvested so I feel okay with it. Before you start wondering why I'm going to chat about an electronic piano on a synth forum (Gasp! Blasphemy!) I have what seems to...

Re: My first significant mod: KingKorg internal PSU

Hi everyone! I am going to be doing another internal PSU install in the next week, but since the old PSU is now a non-stock part I am going to have to custom design a new mount for the new PSU I have chosen. If anyone wants me to take any more detailed pictures, explain anything else in detail, or r...

Re: Crumar Performer- ripe for all kinds of mods

Mattew96, just wanted to say thanks for this great idea and all the detailed pics and instructions. I just finished bringing one of these back to life, and this mod is my next project, really excited. Amazing work -- huge thanks! That's fantastic, I'm so happy to hear my work will be going to use! ...

Classitronic website

Hi everyone, Not sure if this is the right board or if it should be in "off topic", but I was wondering if anyone knew what happened to http://classitronic.net . It was one of my favourite websites and a few months ago its domain expired and it seems to be no more, and none of the tracks that were s...

Re: Crumar Performer- ripe for all kinds of mods

Here's a picture of how I modified the Brass switch. The wire shorting the pins is actually the leg off of one of the capacitors I had just put into the board (On the left you can see where I previously had tried the sound doctorin style mod): https://s27.postimg.org/ss8vmy6sz/20170822_010012.jpg No...

Re: Crumar Performer- ripe for all kinds of mods

Okay, I'm ready to post about this mod finally. https://s27.postimg.org/eyxujr1f7/IMG_20170816_202751.jpg It's actually very simple, and requires some parts that are fairly common. At a bare minimum, you'll need three parts: A high impedance input Op Amp (I used TL062CP) A low leakage MOSFET (prefer...

Re: Crumar Performer- ripe for all kinds of mods

As far as I'm aware Sound Doctorin just did a switch modification which gives you either crescendo control or sustain control, but not both. Mine would give you control over both! :) I'm trying to put together a good detailed post which is why there's a bit of a delay. More soon!

Re: My first significant mod: KingKorg internal PSU

Are you planning on running the lights inside the synth? Because the only place I expect you'd see them is under the keys. Otherwise you'd need a way to breach the case My mod uses a SMPS and I mounted it far away from the audio path with no shield an no problems. I think you will find the same. Goo...

Crumar Performer- ripe for all kinds of mods

Hello forum! I've had the pleasure of working on a Performer for the last few weeks. I'm getting fairly familiar with its operations and wanted to share the one mod I am doing to it as well as the untapped potential this synth has. First, some background: I got the synth with a very crackly power su...

Re: Kingkorg - the first bad tube ever?

For the record, my workplace lent me some SOVTEK 12AX7s to test it, and indeed it was a bad tube. Almost definitely the filament. I will see whether my service department can sell me a tube for a good price.

Kingkorg - the first bad tube ever?

Hi forum, I was fixing the bender on a friend's Kingkorg... An ordeal to say the least (a story for the general board). I finished it and upon testing the synth (okay, honestly, goofing around with the synth), I found strange behaviour in the tube section. Turn on tube: led lights up, sound immediat...

Re: SH101 square and sub cutting out

I found the problem. According to the schematics, r179 is supposed to be 220k. For some reason on mine it is 47k, what appears to be stock from the factory. I didn't want to fully remove the panel board, so rather than change r179 I opted to add a 47k resistor in parallel to r180 to rebias the resis...

Re: My first significant mod: KingKorg internal PSU

I was thinking of having the same thing done to my KingKorg. The other thing I would like to do is get some kind of midi controller with just knobs and sliders and create a mapping for all the other functions that would be great to have right on the front panel, such as arpegiator note type, gate c...

SH101 square and sub cutting out

Hello Forum, I've been fixing an out of whack modded SH-101 and I think I've fixed most of the problems but this one is really messing with me. The Sub oscillator cuts out at G#2 2' The Square oscillator cuts out at E2 1' It doesn't matter what pulse width is selected for either. Now I have investig...
