Re: SCI Prophet 2002 Sampler with Free Kontakt Sample!

I've now got a Prophet 2002 on the way, and am looking for the factory disk images. The only thing I found was a now-dead Dropbox link on a Dutch forum.

This would be a nasty necro-bump were this not a sticky...

Re: Vintage synths, are they really worth it?

At this point, there's quite a bit of vintage-voiced new stuff priced favorably compared to the vintage originals. I would have totally gone for the Abstrakt VS-1 over the vintage Oberheim OB-8 if I had just held out two more months (or if my offer came up short). I was also this close to starting a...

Re: Your latest musical purchase

Been assembling an electronic drum set, starting with a Simmons SDS9 with pads, adding all necessary bits. Realized the SDS9 just wasn't an SDSV, so I jumped on an eBay auction for the module at a fair price.

Re: Downsizing (which synths can I sell?)

In Roland land: Dump the D-110, JX-8P, and MKS-50. Unless you're into vintage PC gaming and want MT-32 compatibility, the D-110 has little to offer. It's neither a good ROMpler nor a D-50. The big omission (at least from what I remember with my D-5) is PWM. Unless the JX-8P has working aftertouch, t...

Mirage questions: editor and input sampling filter

I'm loving my new Mirage. Its character is everything I wanted. So far I've recorded a Power Gig guitar game controller, which now sounds more like a D-50, and sampled cross-mod on the Odyssey to use as an oscillator. Now I've got a few questions. 1. Mine is the rack version and I had trouble gettin...

Re: Gear Trading Thread

Considering trading Roland SH-101 with mod grip, strap, and gig bag, for Roland SH-2 or SH-09 plus cash. SH-2 might be a straight trade if it comes with the case.

Local greatly preferred. Can meet anywhere between Richmond and Baltimore.

MKS-30 - oscillators gone way out of tune (after installing Kiwi-30).

I'm now running into trouble with my newly upgraded MKS-30. I successfully socketed the 80017A chips and tested Tuesday night before the upgrade, they're no longer a problem. I then installed Kiwi-30 and everything works except for actually playing a scale correctly. Editing the filter and amp param...

Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

1) The synth that made you want to play music: Yamaha DX7 The cut-down FM implementations on old PC sound cards and the Sega Genesis have imprinted my mind with FM. 2) Your first synth: Roland D-5 Broke kid using his Christmas money... 3) The synth that has surprised you most: Moog MG-1 Bought to fi...

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

I'm worried that the SSI2144, being based on the SSM2044, being based on the Moog filter, would be too close to my existing Moog. I never knew it was based on the Moog. It doesn't really sound like it, has its own character that is really very nice. Hence the popularity. I may have been repeating d...

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

I was almost ready to start saving up. Summit this year, Prophet-6 module next year. But then the MFB SYNTH PRO is also coming soon. Priced low enough that I could get it and the Peak together for not much more than the Prophet module alone, and one-upping the Prophet in some features - 8 voices, on...

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

Back from Chuck Levin's, picking up some Tiptop Stackables for the Matriarch (I don't have to use up both multiples on PWM for all of the oscillators for paraphonic pads), and trying out the synths. Peak (since Summit isn't out yet) - Since my earlier posts, I became more curious about the filter. T...

Don't forget the Rev2*! My only regret is not getting the 16-voice version.

(*) But aye, the Summit sounds gorgeous too.
Yeah, I kinda already wrote Rev2 off in my OP, since I didn't like the 08's character. I'll try it out in the store when I'm trying the others, though.

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

On second thought, I might be open to letting go of the DX7 to make way for the Summit. My DX7 is a Mk1, so it doesn't send the full range of velocity. The Novation site says the Summit uses the keybed from the SL mkIII, so how does that feel compared to the Yamaha FS action?

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

I enjoyed the Peak when i reviewed it for VSE, and I liked playing with the Prophet 12 module at NAMM and subsequently at stores. I'm still waffling over both. To throw another wrench into your works, there is also the Novation Summit..... I see the Summit is the same price as the Prophet-6 module ...

Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

In the near future, I want to send my Jupiter-8 off for maintenance and to get MIDI installed. I will get one more full-featured polysynth, to tide me over while the Jupiter is out, and to complement it when it's back. My original plan was to get a Prophet-6 or OB-6 desktop, to provide a different c...
