Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

I'm worried that the SSI2144, being based on the SSM2044, being based on the Moog filter, would be too close to my existing Moog. I never knew it was based on the Moog. It doesn't really sound like it, has its own character that is really very nice. Hence the popularity. I may have been repeating d...

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

I was almost ready to start saving up. Summit this year, Prophet-6 module next year. But then the MFB SYNTH PRO is also coming soon. Priced low enough that I could get it and the Peak together for not much more than the Prophet module alone, and one-upping the Prophet in some features - 8 voices, on...

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

Back from Chuck Levin's, picking up some Tiptop Stackables for the Matriarch (I don't have to use up both multiples on PWM for all of the oscillators for paraphonic pads), and trying out the synths. Peak (since Summit isn't out yet) - Since my earlier posts, I became more curious about the filter. T...

Don't forget the Rev2*! My only regret is not getting the 16-voice version.

(*) But aye, the Summit sounds gorgeous too.
Yeah, I kinda already wrote Rev2 off in my OP, since I didn't like the 08's character. I'll try it out in the store when I'm trying the others, though.

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

On second thought, I might be open to letting go of the DX7 to make way for the Summit. My DX7 is a Mk1, so it doesn't send the full range of velocity. The Novation site says the Summit uses the keybed from the SL mkIII, so how does that feel compared to the Yamaha FS action?

Re: Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

I enjoyed the Peak when i reviewed it for VSE, and I liked playing with the Prophet 12 module at NAMM and subsequently at stores. I'm still waffling over both. To throw another wrench into your works, there is also the Novation Summit..... I see the Summit is the same price as the Prophet-6 module ...

Modern poly to complement Jupiter-8?

In the near future, I want to send my Jupiter-8 off for maintenance and to get MIDI installed. I will get one more full-featured polysynth, to tide me over while the Jupiter is out, and to complement it when it's back. My original plan was to get a Prophet-6 or OB-6 desktop, to provide a different c...

Re: Full sized Korg Arp Odyssey

At $1,600, I better like the feel of the keys. The MS-20 full-size kit keys weren't the best.

Otherwise, I'm saving the $1,000 and going with the module and triggering it with my DX7.

Re: Interesting Junior-106 HS-60 mod/repackage

That is one of the more ridiculous things I have seen. 37 key polysynth...yuck. Looks cute, I'll give it that. I get the feeling that "little keyboard, how cute" is the sentiment that led to 49 keys becoming the new standard down from 61. cough cough DSI Prophet-6 and OB-6 keyboards cough cough Beh...

Re: OB-6/Prophet-6/Jupiter 6

Now that Korg has made their announcement, I might as well update. I bought the ODYSSEi app they announced to tide me over, and then I saw the Gearslutz thread about the full-size reissue rumors: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electronic-music-instruments-electronic-music-production/1121415-korg-ar...

Re: OB-6/Prophet-6/Jupiter 6

I'm glad to see my mono GAS plans have fueled yours. I see you don't have anything Moog, though. Moog ladder + Oberheim state variable is an unbeatable combination. I would go KARP if I go OB-6, because I have a Voyager RME serving Moog duties. Oh wait, the KARP has the filter switch and t...

Re: Desktop vs full keyboard synths

For a while, my Voyager RME fell out of favor. I couldn't figure out why, until I had the chance to compare a keyboard Voyager to the Model D reissue. No, the Model D did not curbstomp the Voyager. When I got back home, I figured it out - my Voyager RME was just too far from my fingertips to be able...

Re: Gear Trading Thread

EDIT - No longer considering this trade. It was only a feeler anyway. Original trade in the spoiler. My Juno-60 (with Kenton Pro DCB) for your Prophet-600? The Juno-60 is in full working order but fair cosmetic condition. Not 100% sure on keeping it, but not 100% sure on getting rid of it. Location:...

Re: OB-6/Prophet-6/Jupiter 6

Hmm, that's a tough one. Having just gotten my P600 set up with gligli's mod, I'm well and truly in love with it - but it's hard to imagine parting with that glorious Juno chorus. (I'd say if anything, look at ditching the Alpha Juno 2 instead - but I've only had a tiny bit of experience with that ...
