Roland SDE-1000 Issues

Hi all, I got a Roland SDE-1000 a week ago and finally had a chance to test it out, but I'm encountering some issues. Power the unit on and there are no presets and everything is set to a delay of 0ms. I increase the delay with almost nil effect, although tweaking modulation seems to have an affect,...

Re: Need help decreasing MIDI jitter in my setup!

I've seen the Expert Sleepers piece show up before. Any idea how to incorporate it into my setup? I'd probably have to ditch the MOTU timepiece, yea? The box connects to your audio interface and outputs one MIDI port, you connect the 707 to that instead of the MOTU. You use the ES plugin inside you...

Re: Need help decreasing MIDI jitter in my setup!

Just a thought. Have you optimized your computer for music? I know with XP we have a setting under My Computer, System Properties, Performance Options, Visual Effects a button for "Adjust for best performance" - it takes away CPU effort for nice graphics and makes them available for programs/apps l...

Re: Need help decreasing MIDI jitter in my setup!

Ways to reduce jitter: 1. More MIDI ports! The fewer devices on a given port, the less jitter. You've got plenty of ports on your interface, are you using them all? What other devices are on the same port as your 707? 2. Sample accurate MIDI: Expert Sleepers USAMO Presently, each piece of gear has ...

Need help decreasing MIDI jitter in my setup!

I know there's a ton of threads out there on the web about MIDI jitter, and how USB struggles with it, but I've found no clear way to improve the situation and am getting to the point where the jitter in my setup is causing frustration. I'll program a 16th note hi-hat pattern via the TR-707 and it w...

Re: Prophet 600 - notes drone when controlling via MIDI

This happens to me too. I've had two P600s over the years and they both did this. One of them will also randomly spit out notes when I'm driving it via my DAW or hardware sequencer. Very strange. Over the years, I've just stopped and started whatever is triggering the synth and it will eventually co...

Korg DW-8000 vs. Kawai K3

As background, I've been trying to find a K3 local to my area for the last 6 years - and have come pretty close to snapping one up. The only problem, and it's a good problem to have, is I finally have a fully functional DW-8000 and I really love the sound. Since, on paper, the K3 and DW seem to have...

Re: Need ideas on setting up a patchbay/changing audio workf

Thank you both for your responses. I think I may go the patchbay route, or failing that a line mixer in the interim. I do think about sampling my drum machines, but actually don't have a hardware sampler. Since I do my sequencing via the Pyramid, I will probably not be using a DAW for sampling for t...

Need ideas on setting up a patchbay/changing audio workflow

I've decided I need to revamp my set-up so I'm not constantly having to swap cables to and fro from my interfaces, and hopefully somewhere here has some advice. So, I currently have a Focusrite Scarlett 18i20 with a Presonus ADAT pre for a total of 16 inputs. I have 7 synth channels that I have perm...

Thanks for the thoughts everyone! Still mulling over this one as the DX seller has disappeared for the moment.

Korg Wavestation EX vs. DX7

So, I have a chance to pick up one of these synths locally. Both are approximately the same price (within about $50 of each other). I've listened to a ton of sound samples of the EX and DX, and still can't decide which I like more. I'm leaning towards the EX, but the thing is I don't really need ano...

Pyramid and Arturia KeyStep Sequencing Roland SH-101

Hey all, I just bought a KeyStep in order to trigger my SH-101 and as a general controller. My Pyramid's CV/gate outputs are already tied up with my Pro One, hence the Keystep (I know I could've gotten a MIDI/CV converter, but they are usually more expensive and I wanted a small controller). How can...

Juno 60 Patches Disappear and Screen Defaults to "--"

Hi all, my Juno 60 is slowly getting cantankerous. A couple years ago I brought it in for servicing and everything was OK - coin cell battery replaced, etc. Now I'm getting an issue where my Juno will randomly lose patch information and default to the boot sound "--". The longer I leave the synth on...
