Re: MPC Live and X
I'm all in on the MPC Live. But it makes me wonder if my purchase of the Pioneer Toraiz will seem redundant. Maybe I'll play around with the MPC, and if I like it better, sell the Toriaz. Time will tell.

Re: Analog Drum Machines
I am pretty sure all could have been accomplished with the Elektron or Dave Smith's machine, but it's more than I want to spend. Just got the King Korg and am going to pair that with the Roland AIRA Sytstem 1-M module. I do like the look of Novation's Circuit and it does seem to offer most things I...

Re: Arturia Drumbrute - where did the thread go?
The 16 pattern chain song mode seems a little skimpy on paper. I wonder how this works out in performance, though. I'm about to offload an RX-5 but if memory is a problem, the RX-5 could be an able sequencer. The DrumBrute's sequencer will do things the RX5 and many other drum machines won't do. At...

Re: Vermona Perfourmer Mk II
I find the synth appealing, too, but I've just never pulled the trigger on one. The reason for the lack of a thread may simply be that -- in the U.S. at least -- Vermona is very much a boutique kind of manufacturer, whose prices tend to be on the high side on this side of the pond. I would liken Ver...

Re: Behringer Deep Mind 12
Yes, Sonic Lab is really milking the h**l out of the DeepMind 12 mania. This is their third video on the machine. It's getting to be a bit much, I think.HalloweenJack wrote:New video from Nick

Re: Elektron hinting at something new
I'd like to hear from someone who owns their boxes- to see if they think this makes a worthy addition. I own the A4, AK, RYTM, OT, MD, and MnM (2, in fact), and this new box doesn't do a thing for me. If my GAS meter goes from 0 (I hate it and would never buy it) to 10 (I can't live without it), th...

Re: Roland 909 Day
As far as I was aware, orginally the Boutiques were 'limited editions' so presumably these won't be around forever, yet the TR8 seemed to be a permament part of the line up. Roland seemed committed to it only recently with the 606 kit add on, it always seemed to be more like a proper studio peice o...

Re: Toraiz SP-16
So I got my hands on one of these -- I couldn't resist -- and it's spectacular. The workflow is every bit as good as I imagined. Because it uses x0x-style sequencing, you can pick it up and start making beats almost instantly. The machine itself is much bigger than I imagined it would be -- it's big...

Re: Roland 909 Day
I do think roland are going to try to cash in on making another 808,909, and 303 emulation at some point, but the question is: when? They might want to wait until the TR8 has been out there a while before introducing another attempt at the drum machines, or at least until it's discontinued. As it s...

Re: Toraiz SP-16
Sweetwater, zzounds, and other U.S. online retailers now have it in stock. Juno has it in the U.K. I can't believe this isn't getting more attention on this forum! As a sampler arranger and sequencer, it's probably got one of the best workflows I've ever seen. Plus, it's standalone (no computer need...

Re: keyboard sampler
The DSS-1 keyboard is fairly light and plastic-ey. It's not terrible, but it's nothing special. Also, the disk access is agonizingly slow, unless you have one of the rare-ish upgrades for SCSI capability. That said, it sounds pretty terrific (SSM filters plus the Korg digital delay/chorus = gloriou...

Korg DSS-1? But it weighs about 6,000 lbs.
