Re: Akai/MPC Sequencing

It very difficult to say exactly.. you could ask 100 different people and get 100 different answers.. He's obviously taken in his samples into the 950s and chopped/mapped them to be triggered by pads on the 2500. You could have just used the 2500 to doo all of this but obviously the S950s have a cer...

Re: OB-8 vs. Jupiter 6?

Well done matey.. I really don't think you will ever regret that decision. I fantasised for years about the JP 6 and then when I finally got one I was very disappointed with it's core sound.. just a bit thin and could never get it to sound as good as it looked. A year or so later, I got an OB8(swapp...

Re: The Hornet: EDP-Wasp / EMS-Synthi crossbreed.

Rather too expensive for what you get I think.. €5K and only 1 Envelope generator??! I paid a little over half that for my Vostok DL with 2 loopable envelopes, Step Sequencer and a much more powerful/flexible dual filter https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1.0-9/1186719_101531982...

Re: Sampling Synth

As Max Said.. If you want the sound then go for either an Emax I or II.. the Emu sound is at the centre of the music you love. Shed any ideas you have about having loads of RAM and learn to be creative with restrictions in the same way we did back in the day.. You may be surprised how stimulating it...

Re: Bottom Ten Worst Synths of All Time

I didn't see any mention of the Cheetah MS800..

A truly dreadful synth with c**p sound and terrible user interface.. has to be a contender for one of the worst ever

Re: Anyone else seen this beast?..

I don't see Roland or Korg getting that criticism.. You must not follow teh webz much ;) I just happen to find that curious. Actually.. probably not the greatest examples.. how about Moog?.. ;) There is a lot of work that goes into designing these machines.. it's always a toss up between delivering...

Re: Ultravox Bass Synth and Its Descendants

Curious why no-one has mentioned layering?.. While there are certain harmonics in that bass sound that scream PPG Wave, there is also probably layered low end reinforcement from the Minimoog or Arp Oddysey.. as far as recreating the sound goes then the Blofeld or other Waldorf machines can reproduce...
