Re: MIDI basics

Thanks for the help everyone. Midi controller will probably be the route I go. I've been really ignorant when it comes to modern gear.

Re: MIDI basics

Thanks for the info, Rhino!

Space is the only reason I am considering racks over more keyboards. I have a small workspace that I need to optimize. But with the knowledge you gave me you definitely just saved me from making a foolish purchase!

MIDI basics

I'm looking into getting an Emu E4 or Roland U-220 or other similar rack module. I know very little about these machines. My only synthesizer is a Juno-60 that has been fitted with Midi. Would I be able to use this keyboard to control the rack modules, and would I get full functionality from the mod...

Re: Roland SPV-355 P/V Synth

A nice demo of it would be great! There doesn't seem to be many on Youtube...

How do you find the synth sounds as an expander for other synths? Does it add a lot? I mean, 2 VCO's is impressive. I would like to use it with my Juno 60, but I hear the tracking is sketchy.

Roland SPV-355 P/V Synth

I was thinking about getting one. Has anyone used it before? Not much info online about it. VSE doesn't even have it in the database.

Have: Black 62' American Reissue Fender Jazzmaster w/ case. Minor paint wear on the side. Otherwise perfect. Roland RE-201 Space Echo. Reverb cuts out on some of the modes. Cosmetically perfect. ZVEX Tremorama tremolo pedal. Hand painted, perfect shape. Want: Roland System 100m 190; the three module...

Haha, I see. Can you recommend any good Midi sequencers that would be right for me?

Re: Roland Juno 60 and CSQ-600 compatibility?

Honestly I don't use Midi. I bought the Juno post-midi upgrade, and I would have preferred the DCB. After speaking to a tech, he said it's possible to convert the midi Juno to CV/Gate. Would that not make it fully functional with the CSQ-600? Thank you for your replies, they are very helpful. I'm st...

Re: Roland Juno 60 and CSQ-600 compatibility?

Buying those converters could get pricey, too. Thanks for your help! I just loved the look of the CSQ-600, and being able to layer four sequences seemed very useful. Maybe I will just buy a nice SH-09 to go with the CSQ!

Re: Roland Juno 60 and CSQ-600 compatibility?

Thanks for replying!

That's what I thought. However my Juno has had the dcb replaced with midi, making the JSQ useless. Would it be possible to use a midi to cv converter from the Juno into the CSQ?

Roland Juno 60 and CSQ-600 compatibility?

I was wondering if it's possible to use a CSQ-600 to sequence a Juno 60. I am aware the Juno is lacking a CV out; is that the bottom line? Could a drum machine such as a tr-808 help?

Thanks!

It's a great machine...Love mine.
Thanks Sam! I hope it isn't anything as serious as a chip...

Re: Roland TR-808 Main Outputs have no sound

I had this problem with my 808 too when it arrived. Problem was that the Hi/Lo outputjacks solderingpoints where detached(maybe during delivery,'cause that's what most sellers say if something is wrong with a instrument you just bought of evilbay  ) It was a easy fix and fully operating again....

Re: Roland TR-808 Main Outputs have no sound

Yes, each individual output is functioning fine. Lots of volume from them, too. When I use the high master output, I can get a little bit of sound from the machine, but only when my Twin-Reverb is at 8 and the 808 volume is at 10. That's just a bit quiet. Haha.
