Re: Synth and Ableton Live teachers

most guitar center and sam ash locations have free ableton classes. if you already have a synth its a good idea to pick up one of the cookbook style patch programming guides. if you're bent on finding a local teacher, craigslist would be a good place to post. ;)

micron midi latency

I've noticed some pretty severe latency when syncing my micron with the clock on my esx. the tempo lights don't sync, and when I trigger a pattern on the micron by sending a note from the esx, the pattern is always about 1 second behind the beat. needless to say this sounds really awful. I've got th...

Re: alesis micron questions

the reason my esx was not working quite right with the different splits was that for some reason, my empty pattern was transposed wildly out of range. once I got it centered, things were working out as expected. the xyz problem was simply a matter of assignments, as you mentioned. I'm still not sure...

Re: alesis micron questions

thanks - after posting this, I sent a few instruments to an empty setup, and the xyz knobs changed the values of the different parts. I think the problem was that I accidentally sent my programs to a premade setup that didnt have any xyz assignments for the parts. The weird thing is that when i go t...

alesis micron questions

i recently picked up a micron. it's been fun despite it's lack of knobs and the menu diving hasnt been as bad as i thought it would be. i've been making headway into creating some decent patches, updated the os, and otherwise having fun with it. but when i started trying to use it for what i got it ...

Re: esx arpeggiator speed

balma: yep, it's impossible. note repeater is more like it! lol

Tallow: you're quite right - that's what i've been doing thus far. I was hoping there was an easier way, but I'll just have to get creative with it, as you say. :)

thanks guys

Re: esx arpeggiator speed

Thanks, but that's not really what I'm talking about, and I keep the manual open when i'm using my esx. I don't need to simply reverse the functions of the slider and ribbon (i've tried, it wasn't all that different from the stock setting), but to change the rate of the arpeggio when it's triggered....

Re: VSE´s Electribe ESX-1 project...

I'd love to hear your tempest samples - I don't have many decent drum samples laying around. good cymbal sounds are especially hard to find. I make my loops using jeskola buzz, then sample them on the esx. i've found recently that it's much easier to use the slice function on a drumloop and assign t...

esx arpeggiator speed

is there a way to change the speed at which the arp on the korg esx plays notes? it would be much more useful to me if it didn't spit out a constant, quantized stream of 16th notes. So far the only way i've found is to change the bpm of the entire pattern, but that's not really what I'm trying to do...

Re: New Elektron box--Analog Four

this thing looks like a ton of fun. I have to agree with some earlier posts about the manual -I hope it reads a little less like a repetitive calculus textbook than the OT manual. that thing made it impossible for me to think straight after a few pages. I read the whole thing, but had to take period...

Re: alesis micron as multi timbral module

_dan: thanks for going into more detail on how my idea could be accomplished - that doesn't sound too difficult. If I do pick up a micron I'll probably message you for more info. :D stab: I stand corrected - there are several blofelds available on ebay for <$500. The more I think about it though, th...

Re: alesis micron as multi timbral module

groy - thanks for the counterpoint! I wish I could get my hands on a micron before I purchase so I could see firsthand what sequencing it is like, but it's discontinued and the music shops here won't bring in the store models from other parts of the country unless i buy the thing.. excellent suggest...

wicked. thanks for the tips, now it's probably just down to which one I can pick up at the right price: the nova or the radias.

Re: alesis micron as multi timbral module

stab frenzy: the blofeld looks pretty sexy, but even used they're about $200 outside my price range. ashe37: thanks for the suggestions. I was looking forward to getting a novation ultranova (so many cool knobs, touch sensitive encoders, etc  ), until I realized it was monotimbral and that I ...

Re: alesis micron as multi timbral module

from the micron manual: You need to create a setup. Follow this procedure: 1. Press [programs], and find a program you like. 2. Push the control knob, turn to “Start new setup?” and push again. 3. Press [programs], and find another program that you like. 4. Push the control knob, turn to “Send to se...
