Re: sample sequencer needed

Hehe, Im picking up my brand new Octatrack on tuesday. Ive been finishing the setup and the octatrack his place is already reserved. Ive come to realize that I really wanted something that can change-modify bigtime my existing samples and create good samples from the sounds I already have but than s...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

You, gainsay, are the guy who did the review! Must say, great review, havent seen all the vidz yet but you do not mention one single downside, which imho is odd since I believe every synth, how great it may be, has something of 'flaw'. Its true that they are different: built, shape, controls, sound ...

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

I've read and heard that some stores in Europe now have the unit available... At first I thought: I WANT THIS. Now I"m doubtful and more eager to wait or even consider another synth (Spectral Audio Neptune 2). anybody here who has it and willing to do a review? I've been looking on youtube where thi...

Re: sample sequencer needed

The octa is now priced with a decent reduction... Very tempting, especially since I have now even have spare for the minibrute, if its ever being shipped :)

Re: Which synth next?

It depends on what kind of sounds you think are missing, how much you can spend, rack or not,... V-synth is nice (from what I heard), something like a Virus (however, has a distinctive sound), MS2000 maybe, or a Nord Lead, JP8080.... If you make many different kinds of music you have a lot of option...

Re: sample sequencer needed

@robotunes: I do own a KP3, and a minikp :), I mainly use the KP3 live by sending the kick through it. In the studio I tend to use or abuse a Sherman V2 filterbank, great for percussion and kicks. Planning to make samples with my jomox running through it and than load those samples into the new "dev...

Re: sample sequencer needed

robotunes, howcome you are so convinced about the Octatrack, cuz you like me you are still waiting for one :) yesterday I sat in front of the machines and asked myself "what are you missing and what do you want to do?" What I'm missing is an extra sound-module and fx to lay over my samples. I do wan...

Re: sample sequencer needed

thanks for the input I've read that on the mc909 track 1 = midi ch1 and so on, thats okay for my. Can work with that, doesnt bother me. Is this why you gave the sequencer only '1'? If it has more possibilites than say the ESX for sequencing anything onboard (sound or sample), that is already top for...

Re: sample sequencer needed

@somebedroomdj: I dont really know why but I found the RS7k just not my thing. I have to admit, I'm not a menu diver, I like a lot hands on/direct controls. It just didnt work for us, the programming was not my style (unlike ESX or Revolution where its a breeze to control/program). As for the Octa, ...

Re: sample sequencer needed

I've made a basic scheme of how I see and will try to explain as good as I can what I expect :) http://i1241.photobucket.com/albums/gg508/Tim-st/Rig/7f77def3.jpg so, you see the MIDI connection between all devices. Now, except for REVOLUTION to VA-synth and ESX to Xbase09, MIDI only means clock. As ...

Re: sample sequencer needed

Woke up this morning only to realize that I still havent found an mc909 and I indeed will have to look into the octatrack again. Too bad tho, cuz the manuals were clear: the mc909 has the workflow I want.

Oh well, we will see.

Will do some reading and watching this afternoon.

Re: sample sequencer needed

I've been trying to find some vids on the synthesis possibilities, no succes however. Nonetheless, others vids do give me a nice idea of these, if offcourse its not an another synth hooked via MIDI that I hear in those. Ive checked that ebay add, but Im not too fond of ebay if I cant go and pick it ...
