Re: Vermona Perfourmer Mk II
I find the synth appealing, too, but I've just never pulled the trigger on one. The reason for the lack of a thread may simply be that -- in the U.S. at least -- Vermona is very much a boutique kind of manufacturer, whose prices tend to be on the high side on this side of the pond. I would liken Ve...

Vermona Perfourmer Mk II
I was surprised to find that there never has been a thread dedicated to this synth on here (as far as I could tell from a search) before. Does anyone around here have one and how are you liking it (or not)? It's very appealing to me and I'm strongly considering getting one. I love that Four Voice se...

Re: Vangelis at work with an incredible set up.
Impressive even though I'm not as into the orchestral sample player Vangelis. I was going to post the topless live Vangelis video from the 70s but I can't find it. That one is impressive too, but of course from the time when he was playing a zillion keyboards and synths simultaneously. The man's a ...

Re: It's time for another Analog Bass Synth
So, there's this forthcoming MB33 and the Dreadbox Hades. There's also the Volca Bass MeeBlip Anode TT-303 (serious 303 clone) Minitaur You could also maybe count the TB-3, even though it's digital. Also perhaps the Bass Station 2, which has transformed into a fuller-featured monosynth. Am I missin...

Re: Moog Mother 32 Eurorack synth voice
Sounds like it could be pretty appealing! Like maybe Moog took the Werkstatt and upgraded it and added a sequencer. Maybe the Wekstatt would serve well as an extra VCO for the Mother 32.

Re: Yamaha Reface
When I was growing up in the evangelical church, at the end of every service there was a "call" to come forward and be saved. Whenever this would happen the keyboardist would switch to the DX7 piano preset and play some cheesy tune. This happened across many churches. I swear there must have been so...

Re: Yamaha Reface
Maybe I'm being unfair, and I apologize to anyone who is fond of that preset. I've just noticed in at least a few videos that preset being the first they go to. It was surprising to me.commodorejohn wrote:Right, it couldn't possibly be that people have a legitimate fondness for things you don't like...

Re: Yamaha Reface
Is the Yamaha DX "piano preset" iconic or something? Serious question. I've always hated it and thought that attitude had entered the collective unconscious, but these Yamaha Reface DX videos popping up have different people playing that preset with what appears to be a fond nostaliga that I had no ...

Re: Yamaha Reface
My distaste for minikeys aside, I'm very confused by the DX synth. There can't be a soul out there that wants a knob-less FM synth, and no one is missing the presets of the DX7. I probably would have even set aside my prejudice against mini-keys for a knobby FM synth and gladly bought one. Furthermo...

Re: Roland Plug-Out Synth System-1
I've not owned the System-1 but I've given it several demos at music stores cause I've really considered it. I could never buy the keyboard version because the keybed is awful, imo. However, the System-1m has got my attention a bit. If I were after a VA then I'd probably get it because I love the Ro...

Re: Making A Rompler Rancid
Thanks for all the replies! I actually do have an ART preamp laying around that I totally forgot about. I don't think I ever tried overdriving it so I didn't think it'd be a possible solution! I'll give it a shot. I probably shouldn't be too hard on the Juno-G. As far as Rompler's go in the past dec...

Re: Making A Rompler Rancid
It does have (very poor) distortion effects. But that's too pronounced of an effect for what I want. I think a what I was is some mild coloration, but not into distortion territory.
