Re: Best Digital Synth to Compliment Analog Setup
I like pairing my analogs with a Yamaha An1x and a Fizmo as driven by a Kurz PC3k8. I have also used a Roland Fantom, and/or Nords, as needed. All have some extraordinary sounds, once you work with them a bit. Oh, and I don't know why, but I really like the pads I get from driving a couple of MicroK...

Re: CS-50 60 owners
I perform with a CS-60 as a lead instrument and blend it with pads and such from a Matrix 12, occasionally, I add an Alesis A6 Andromeda to the mix to round out the sound I am looking for during a live show. On a side note, I think it's fun that the board considers me a newbie, since I've been playi...

Re: What Synth has the most Mojo?
From all the synths in my rig, I would say that the Oberheim Matrix 12 has a huge Mojo sound. Then immediately after, would be the Yamaha CS-60. The 60 is louder than the 12, but so very different. The third close contender would be the ARP 2600.

Absolutely. Same logic, just upgraded and, please, lighter and with PolyAT, MIDI, multichannel output and sequencer.

Re: How often do you use hardware live, if at all?
Always live. I do sometime use sequences and triggered riffs to duplicate live, when playing the more complicated stuff though coming out of the DAW only production studios. No fun just hitting play and faking it on stage. I'd rather actually perform.

Re: Jexus' review of the Alesis Andromeda is up
Interesting. Sorry to hear that he wasn't up to the task of working with the Andromeda. Mine works to make the most extraordinary sounds. Much more complex and lush than everything but the Solaris. My one picky issue is the incredible touchiness of some of the knobs. The sensitivity can be a problem...

Prophet 12 or Solaris?
Can anyone comment on their opinions and why they feel that way, of the strengths and weaknesses of the Prophet 12 and Solaris please?

I agree. From what you describe. The Andromeda will most certainly do it, with no problems at all.

Re: Heart/Brain of your setup?
In the studio, I use Logic exclusively as the brain coupled with some external rack MOTU gear for expansion that tie in some MIDI to CV systems for the older analog sound sources. For stage, it really depends upon the show. I've been using both Roland workstations and Alesis Andromeda for sequencing...

Re: Most abused synths/tones
Probably people trying to do some synthesized variant that sort of sounds like strings and call that a Mellotron. Usually a poor quality string sound with a sample and hold modulation on about 5%. It is so wrong. I'm not talking about those broken down old scratchy tape Mellotrons, but the brand new...

Re: iPad vs Android tablets
If you want frustration or just like to write code or tinker with technology, then get Android. If you want to just use it and have it work, with lots of apps, but have less control over the actual code that runs it, then get Apple. I found that preferred to spend more of my time making music that t...

Re: Help programming Moody Blues"Best Way To Travel" on Mini
Thanks anyway, I found it. It was a square wave LFO on OSC3 and turn off OSC2, then just add some effects.
