Re: Yamaha dx100 blank display

I'll look into those options, thanks.
Is this the correct replacement part? https://www.syntaur.com/Items.php?Item=4546 though it's out of stock, don't know where to find it.

Re: Yamaha dx100 blank display

Alright this is gonna be super embarassing but I had JUST noticed the DX100 has a contrast dial wheel on its back panel. It's even printed at the top... https://www.synthmania.com/dx100.html I completely disregarded what it even was for the entire time I had it. Guess It had just got knocked back to...

If it's 100% blank then it's likely either not getting 5V or something happened with the contrast. Can you see any hint of text from any angle at all?
Well I'll be damned you're right, if I tilt it in a well-lit room I can see the text. So what do I do now?

Re: Yamaha dx100 blank display

I just put it back together. But now the display is blank. Doubled checked, no connection on the display is loose. What do you think could have happened? It still produces sound so I know the whole thing didnt just die. Sounds like there is either a connection mistake (triple check, and possibly ha...

Yamaha dx100 blank display

So ever since I got this years ago, it had an issue with the output cutting off, temporarily solved by adjusting the cable. I took the dx100 out recently to play with but now I've had enough, so I opened the dx100 up to see if the soldering on the output was bad, couldn't see anything off so I just ...

Re: The 4-op Yamaha DX synths

Thanks for the replies so far, but I'm not in the market to buy any new hardware, so I may just end up using my dx100 and see if I like it. The thing never gets any use so I'm looking for an excuse to use it. Deflemask is great if you want to use PC software and is what I've used to directly port mu...

Re: My first synth - the Roland XP-10

So many owned a Casio as their first synth. I think Casio must have made a lot of money in the 80s and 90s. My first keyboard was a casio, it wasn't a synth, just some kind large player keyboard with preset sounds, built on speakers. I didn't really know what I wanted at the time so I just bought i...

The 4-op Yamaha DX synths

I've been interested in doing a couple sega genesis-esque tracks, and was thinking of using my dx100. I've been using Reason with Super Audio Cart and want to lay some dx100 over it. But I'm wondering how accurate the dx100 is for this, if anyone knows? I did a little bit of research on what the gen...

Anyone here get SQ8L running on mac?

I know there's programs out there that should be able to do such a thing but I'm wondering if anyone has actual experience with it. By googling, I'm not sure if I actually saw anyone talking about running it on mac.

SQ8L with a midi controller help, in Reaper

So I bought a midi keyboard, an alesis vi49. Figured I'd try hooking it together with SQ8L in reaper and assigning its knobs. I know the process in reaper, touch a vst's parameter, then go to the vst fx menu, param button, then "learn." But it doesn't ever detect that I moved any of sq8l's parameter...

Re: Ensoniq ESQ-1 models - are parts generally interchangeab

The service manual said there are no interchangeable parts. I just finished replacing my ribbon cable with one from ebay. Seller said he sent me one for the plastic case, and it fitted just like the other. But it still won't read the carts, but the rest of the synth is functioning. What else could t...

Ensoniq ESQ-1 models - are parts generally interchangeable?

Talking about the plastic and metal case models.

I'm going to swap out my cart reader with one from ebay. But will I have trouble with this? Like ribbon cable length issues etc.

Using Midi-OX to load patches into the ESQ-1?

I've been trying to figure this out today. I get how to navigate through midiox. I'm unclear if I'm actually doing the sending & loading part correctly. On the Midi button menu of the ESQ-1, I set the channel to 01, and Enable-keys+ct+pc+ss+sx. Then I go to the Storage menu button, midi, send, and s...

ESQ-1, keybed is getting weak

This is the "plastic" ESQ-1 if it matters. Well about the past 2 years, a few keys give no sound or delayed sound unless pressed really hard it seems. What would this usually be? Either way I STILL have to replace the battery on mine (if you remember me saying this years ago :? ) which I will finall...
