Re: Arturia Rush patches

the tom sawyer bass is a mix of an obx and a Moog Taurus pedal triggered at the same time. Maybe that's why you can't get the timbre right. I knew it was an OB-X but didn't know it was a Taurus, too. Thanks! I'm still trying to find the parameters for Minimoog during the solos on Subdivisions. I ca...

Arturia Rush patches

I got the Arturia Synth collection and I wanna recreate a few patches. Mainly the Tom Sawyer growl on the SEM V (there's no preset that I can find), the Subdivisions Minimoog (I can get close but I feel like I can get it closer) and this one isn't as much of a priority but the main Subdivisions Ober...

Re: Roland S50 for $70

a friend recently offered me his S-50 for free and I turned him down. I personally don't think that they're worth the space that they occupy. had it the TVF filters of the S-550 then I'd love to have one but as it is almost any other keyboard sampler would be preferable. Does your buddy still have ...

Re: Roland S50 for $70

No longer available. Damn! Ah well, I'll keep an eye out and see if another one comes up. I really want one now. For the price its seems like something I could have some fun with. I've been searching on the web to see what other cheap 80s samplers are out there but the S-50 interests me more because...

Re: Roland S50 for $70

Disk - you want double sided / double density floppies (ds/dd). And a WinXP computer with an IDE-based floppy drive (not a USB drive) to make floppies from the disk images. Search for S-group to find the library. The monitor - a PC monitor works, but you'll need the right cable. I have a S-50 and a...

Re: Roland S50 for $70

On the cheap side of going rate. I like the S-50. Hook up a video monitor and it's like having a mini-Fairlight. And the entire Roland factory library is free online to get you going. That sounds pretty cool! I just thought it might be something different and neat to play with. Does it have to be a...

Re: Guess that synth: Genesis edition

Tony Banks wasn't big on Synth programming which is probably why he initially used the Pro-Soloist. When he got the 2600 the band was co-produced by David Hentschel who was responsible for his ARP 2500 work with Elton John and no doubt assisted in programming Tony's 2600. The main reason he used th...

Re: Guess that synth: Genesis edition

Yep, sounds like a 2600. Tony Banks was a big 2600 user, and really ARP in general. He used a Soloist/Pro-Soloist a lot most notably Selling England by The Pound (never understood why he didn't just get an Odyssey or a Minimoog instead), then got the 2600 and used a Quadra quite a bit. Later on he s...

Re: Proof that Roland are indeed insane.

A couple of you said it before; the problem with Roland is that they're marketing keyboards towards the wrong market. They make their Workstations like the Fantoms and market them as what they are, Fantom series Workstations, toward the people who want Workstations. But then for this part of the mar...

Re: Geddy Lee's Use of Synthesizers: '85 - '87/88

As far as "Power Windows" is concerned, here's a few quotes from an article published in the Dec '85 issue of International Musician & Recording World: "On Power Windows, like Andy Richards, Lee mostly relied on the PPG Wave 2.3, as well as the Jupiter-8, the Yamaha DX7 and an Oberheim OBX-a. Of th...

Geddy Lee's Use of Synthesizers: '85 - '87/88

Theres already a thread about his use of synths from 1981/2 to 1984 but since I'm having an early digital synth interest at the moment, I'd like to look into his use of synths after that, particularly through Power Windows and Hold Your Fire. As far as I know, he was still using the PPG Wave on PW, ...

Re: My (and Your) Favorite Minimoog Solos

Any Colour You Like - Pink Floyd. Though I'm not sure if it was done on the Minimoog, or the EMS. I've heard both. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbKAh3zJmH8 . To the best of my knowledge Rick Wright first used the Minimoog on the DSOTM tour. However, on the studio album they used an EMS VCS3 and S...

Re: New Wurlitzer EP/Clone?

does it have to be new? I just picked up a Wurlitzer 206A a couple of weeks ago for so cheap you wouldn't believe the price if I told you. $50? lol I know they can be cheap, but I'm more or less just curious. They make a new Rhodes so I just wanted to know if they made a new Wurly variant. More or ...

New Wurlitzer EP/Clone?

Is there anyone that makes a new version of the Wurlitzer Electric Piano, or a clone that sounds like it? I know they make the Rhodes Mk 7 but I can't seem to find a new Wurly variant. I prefer the sound of a Wurly more than a Rhodes.
