Re: Calling on all Yamaha SY-1 Owners...can't get certain sound.

[...] I'm pretty certain it's all SY-1 too by looking at period pictures. The synth seems to be played through a Leslie speaker? Maybe even a fuzz Just what I thought -- using fuzz, tape delay, reverb, and Leslie can alter a sound significantly. And since the SY-1 is all-analogue, there might be so...

Re: MXR 185 Drum Machine Sync Information

I think the KMS-30 needs a pre-recorded tape sync signal that it can lock unto when playing back (unless you have got a master device that drives the DIN Sync inputs so that you can tap the clock pulse from the DIN Sync jack). Perhaps there is a way to generate a clock pulse as an audio track in you...

Re: PolySix worth buying?

If you are pondering save investments, you should not go for vintage synthesisers -- the market fluctuates all the time (popular today, discarded tomorrow), and there is always something about to break. If I were you, I'd rather go for some Krügerrand or solid DAX-noted stocks and bonds. A Polysix m...

Re: PolySix worth buying?

The key contacts are prone to failure (contact issues), but its real Achilles Heel is the memory backup battery -- make sure this had been replaced *before* major damage was caused by leaking all over the memory board. Not sure I'd spend my money on something like a Polysix -- I always hated it for ...

Re: Over 1000 Vintage Synthesizers in one room (Swiss Museum of Electronic Music)

I would not necessarily call this a museum, this is a warehouse full of stuff in various states of disrepair. Reminds me of similar warehouses in Tokyo and somewhere in the US. Sights like these always make me feel a bit depressed, and some fellow who has apparently had too much of his Ritalin aenem...

celebutante wrote:Yes, by a large margin - the vast majority of tracks you hear Prophets on are rev 3's. People love to praddle on about how ameeezing rev 2's are and how inferior rev 3's are, but I've played both (and own a rev 3) and the difference isn't that huge.
I agree wholeheartedly.

Either the EII Pompous Choir (I think that's what it was called like) or the Emax factory choir disk.
