Re: Need to backup my SH-201, software too old, computer too
I haven't been able to find those specific instructions yet. It's in PDF and I've searched "sysex" "system" "send" "dump" and other terms I think would be relevant. Is there a chance the Roland doesn't support it, forcing you to use their librarian?

Re: Need to backup my SH-201, software too old, computer too
Thanks! I've installed Snoize Sysex Librarian, hooked up the SH-201 to my Mac via midi, but have yet figured out how to actually "dump". Thoughts?

Need to backup my SH-201, software too old, computer too new
I have a Roland SH-201 full of custom patches. I need to store them to make room for patches for another project. I have downloaded the latest version of Roland's librarian for the SH-201 (it's about 5 years old) but it won't install on Mac OS X El Capitan. Clearly some legacy software. Is there a "...

Re: Behringer discussing making ARP Odyssey now
If $999 is the list price, then the MAP or "street price" will be around $699.

Re: Behringer discussing making ARP Odyssey now
When I was talking to a Korg rep at work a few months ago the reason he gave me when I asked why they made the announcement back in February was they had to make the announcement so early due to "legal reasons". I can't connect the dots myself, but I wonder if this has anything to do with that.

Re: Behringer to make analog polysynths !
I remember coming across an April Fools prank online about 10 years ago with Behringer announcing a $300 analog. Whatever they do, I wouldn't be opposed to a hybrid or a VA. Behringer isn't exactly known for tight QC, and getting away from analog relieves them of some of that responsibility. Additio...

Re: When Did Synthesizers Replace Live Orchestras?
Long before synths. The Mellotron was doing this very well in the 60' s and on (King Crimason and Moody Blues). h**l, Days Of Future Passed is more Mellotron than most people realized.

Re: Akai Analog Drum Machine
Another long shot question here: the MIDI OUT sends pitch data, no? Would that mean I could create a sequence on the bass section, then MIDI it into something like my MS-20 Mini, using it as an external sequencer? I was thinking of getting a Beatstep, but may pass if this aspect is already covered b...

Refresh my memory on these virtual analogs
A few months ago--on this forum or another--I followed someones link to a company that made desktop synths where each model was loaded with an emulation on a specific vintage model, and had a hardware interface to match. I believe one of the models they made was the Minimoog. Now that I have learned...
