Re: Which synth was your first love or lighted your G.A.S. ?
Now onto the topic at hand, the first synth I ever touched was a Korg Poly 800 which blew me away. I wanted one bad. However $799 was a lot of money to a teenager in 1984. T I have never considered the price as argument when it comes to synthesizers or any objects which I desire. The same people wh...

Re: 80s VIBE! What first synth should i buy ?
Gotta say that a Juno or JX8P + DX7 sounds like 80's perfection to me. Another honorable mention would be the SQ-80. I've owned all of these boards at some point and they're all great synths. I do prefer a JX3P over the 8P but they're both winners, the 3P being a better dedicated analog synth IMHO. ...

Re: Moog model D reissue
Wasn't the filter on the original model d accidentally overdriven because of a minor miscalculation? Can anyone confirm that the new one replicates this marvelous mistake achieving the same tonal quality we all love? The "buzungas" as colmon would put it, although I suspect he's never actually seen ...

Re: Yamaha Montage synthesizer --- with FM engine!
I spent 10 minutes with the Montage yesterday, very cold and digital sounding, plastic-y and fake like a soft synth. Doesn't have the 3D warmth and ballsiness and sheer rugged manliness of a Yahama CD-80. Now if they would just reissue that synth for $499 dollars with modern built in FX and USB cap...

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...
The Mono/Poly is a great synth and would make a neat reissue but I don't think the markets really out there for it. She's such a strange girl that most guys just don't know what to do with her. Now if they combined the features of the Polysix AND the Mono/Poly and rolled out a new/retro monster synt...

Re: Mood model D reissue
Wow, dreams really do come true. Bob would be proud. With all the improvements they made, this will be even better than the original! It's high time I sell everything and finally start saving up for a model d.

Re: Affordable analogue synth recommendations?!
"Vintage" and "cheaper" are 2 words you don't typically see in the same sentence. The newer analog synths that Psy_Free listed are all great places to start. The biggest bang for buck probably being the Korg Minilogue. But if you're just looking for the cheapest basic monosynth with a sequencer you ...

Re: Rig advice?
Personally I'm planning to sell some gear to fund a Korg Kronos workstation. It can do everything making it the perfect single keyboard solution. Check one out if you can. Another option would be something like the Nord Stage, much more limited but no menu diving.

Re: What synth have you bought more than one of?
I have 2 DX7IIs too - I bought the second one for it's E! card. It was advertised as non-working - it just had dead battery. Score, those finds are always nice. You ever use them together? I know there's an octal mode on the E! to stack 8 voices which I'm sure can get extremely fat on it's own. It ...

Re: Last remaining good value analogue poly synths?
Yeah I've seen 3P's and 8P's both come down in price lately, and may others for that matter. Seems like supply/demand finally balanced itself out, sellers are more desperate now and buyers not so much, so synths get cheaper. It's alright with me, for a while asking prices were getting pretty ridicul...

Re: What synth have you bought more than one of?
I sold my DX7IIFD years ago and missed it so I recently snagged one with the grey matter E! mod. I liked it soo much that when I saw another one for cheap I jumped on it and now I gots a spare! I currently have both hooked up to force me to program FM, but also to control my rack gear since these bo...

Re: Going price for a JX-3P and PG-200
Prices are definitely rising but still fluctuate a little. I would try and get the 3P for around $500 and skip the PG200 for now. You don't need it create sounds and there are cheaper alternatives out there. Plus if you ever get the KIWI mod, you'll need the Patch Editor from Kiwitechnics instead, w...
