Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

1) The synth that made you want to play music: Oberheim OB-X so many great songs! 2) Your first synth: Yamaha DX 11 cause it was cheap and I was too young to have any funds of any significance. 3) The synth that has surprised you most: Chroma Polaris - It sounds really fantastic and different (in a ...

Re: Van Halen "Why Can't This Be Love" What Synth Is That ?

I remember in an article I read in the late 80's that Eddie recorded that song with his OB-8, split with arpeggiator and a unison patch. If I remeber correctly, the person writing the article said Eddie had 3 OB-8's in his 5150 studio!

Re: Gear Trading Thread

I have a fully functional Oberheim xPander.

I would like a fully functional Roland Jupiter 6.

I live in South Central Ohio. Not looking to ship, but I can travel anywhere in Ohio, WV, IN, IL, TN, KY and VA to complete the trade. And maybe NC or MI depending on the time frame.

Re: Your lifelong equipment list

I actually expect there to be a Tempest in that set up eventually. :D That's a nice set up. I've been dreaming of a "U" shaped work space for years. What's the DAW that everything runs in or on to? I find the studio ergonomics impossible to sort out. I just can't reach everything as easily as possi...

Was using a TR-707 and the drums on my M50. Just picked up a fully expanded TR-8. That will be my primary drum machine use moving forward. But thinking about adding the "Volca 6 pack" to the arsenal.

John Bowen Solaris

I was taking a look at the Solaris demos and sounds very interesting. Thinking about adding my name to the waiting list. I would like some feedback from anyone out there that owns one of these....how does it compare to the other synths in your set up?

Re: Yamaha Dx7 iifd (no sound)

I got a DX7iiFD with E! on ebay a few months ago with the same issue. Luckily I got a RAM cartridge with it. It played sounds from the cartridge but not from INT. I replaced the battery and same issue, but I could load RAM to INT and the INT sounds would still play after I turned the machine off and...

What about The Gap Band "You dropped a bomb on me"? Or is that thick analog sound considered a lead instead of a bass?
