Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)
1) The synth that made you want to play music: I was already playing music, but the sounds of the Minimoog on records was definitely an influence. 2) Your first synth: Minikorg 700. Got it for next to nothing in the late-eighties. Still have it. 3) The synth that has surprised you most: Probably the...

Re: How many of you have organs in your set-up?
I use either an Ace Tone TOP-8 or an original Korg CX-3 for live performance.

Re: Ace Tone TOP 1
The TOP 1 won't sound at all if you don't connect it to an external amp.
If it can still be tuned, it's a nice combo organ.

Re: Versatile, warm analogue polysynths?
As always, it depends on what music you intend to make and your budget. I own the Polysix myself and it's great for warm sounding string-sounds. And for pretty much any early-eighties-sound you could want :-) And if you buy vintage, remember that you are likely to experience trouble getting everythi...

Re: Sascha / KMFDM's Personal Roland SH-101 *Holy Grail*
I am a bit surprised to see this synthesizer in such a good condition. (Quote: Sascha Konietzko interviewed in Keyboard Magazine august 1995 by R. Doerschuk): "Most of the synth sounds come from older gear, which tends to wind up piled in what Konietzko calls "the junk corner" in his Chicago loft. "...

Re: Synths that didn't impress you
Roland JD 800. Loved the looks, paid a lot of money for it, wasn't impressed with the sounds. I haven't used it much since. Korg Microkorg XL. Nice and portable, but apart from using the vocoder now and then, it's mostly in its box. So I've learnt my lesson. Bought a Korg MS 20 mini. I love it and u...

Re: Vintage Synth adverts
Wow, never seen that ad before. The MiniKorg 700 was my first synth, and that's a martian-timpani-sound.
Gotta try that.

Re: analog drum synths
And me too. I've got the Pearl Syncussion 1 kit with the two white pads. Back when I played drums, I had them with me at every gig. And all the drummers I know, who have tried them out, loved them :-) The Pearl Syncussion were used by Mike Oldfield and New Order and probably a lot of other artists.

"Would you buy a CS80 if re-realeased ?"
The answer is: No.
Not enough money, not enough space.
But I would love to hear what people could do with/on a new CS80.

Re: anyone else like wurly/rhodes/clavinet/organ here?
My stage set-up for the past few years: A Hohner Pianet T and an original Korg CX-3.
I love the Rhodes, but I can't afford one, nor do I have space for it. But one day ... surely ...

I think the VC 10 was used on german group DER PLAN's second LP "Normalette surprise".

Re: Tears For Fears "The Hurting": name those synths?
I remember thinking that the organ on "Suffer the children" sounded a lot like a preset on my Polysix.

Hardware only for me. Never used a computer on stage ever. I'm not sure, I would know how to do it.

Re: Hertzinfarkt, anyone?
I'd never heard of this band before today (stumbled across them on YouTube), but they're pretty good. I'm not sure what to call it...German synthpop, maybe? Does anyone else listen to them? Here's a taste: http://youtu.be/HfGTjwcmS8o I once heard two songs on MySpace, which I quite liked, but apart...
