Re: How did they get that sound a-ha stay on these roads

pads sound like prophet 5

the sound in the backround playing the root notes during the theme in the intro sounds like Synclavier.

Bass could be Roland Juno 6/60.

Re: Can a vocoder synth produce a Bon Iver effect?

sounds like a bunch of vocal tracks to me.

If you want to sound like that without actually singing like him you could try a harmonizer.

Vocoders sound different.

Re: Juno 6 Bender issue

Bender alignement is off.

there is a potentiometer on which the bender-lever is mounted. You unscrew the lever slightly from the shaft of the pot and then turn the pot until the pitch does not vary with the DCO Fader.

Make sure the tuning pot on the back of the synth is centered.

Re: Prophet T8, repaired pop noise - but overall sound too h

don´t you have the schematic ? Make sure you choose the correct reference points. Chassis will not work as a ground reference here.

Apart from the regulated voltages the PSU also makes the unregualted DC of both rectifiers available at the connectors.
that would explain your 49V.

Re: Recommendations for my studio

Korg MS20, but prices are problably beyond the budget right now. but it would fit in and it can do earthshaking bass. The SH101 uses a CEM3340 VCO as opposed to the Junos DCOs and sounds more "analog" to my ears. If it has to be Roland I would recommend the SH09 which is always overlooked in favour ...

Re: Synth Defects - Ticking Time Bombs

Yamaha DX7 arc suppression capacitor meltdown. . this appplies to any old PSU using that scheme. Those caps simply give up at some point. My Solina String ensemble had this issue and that made me replacing those things on all synths I get my hands on. on topic : I recently found that trimpots becom...

Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

1) The synth that made you want to play music: don´t know. Probably some Oberheim on a Mike Oldfield Record. 2) Your first synth: Korg Polysix 3) The synth that has surprised you most: Yamaha CS01. Bought it as a gimmick but if you take it serious it is totally inspiring. At least to me. 4) The synt...

Re: Roland Juno 60 controls not working

do you have the schematics ? all of the controls are handled by the cpu on panel board B. I would suspect an error in that area. Maybe the RAM is corrupted. Check if the powersupply is ok and if panel B gets all of its supply voltages. check for broken wires between Panel A and panel B. the switches...

Korg MS 20 Mini CV Problem

Hi folks, I have problem here and maybe someone can help me out. A client gave me a MS20 mini because he has trouble using it with external CV / Gate. What I found after some messing around is : if you play the MS20mini over its own keyboard you get a almost perfect scale across it. If play it over ...

Re: Korg Trident MK1 problem

did you check on the battery ?

I can´t remember where the battery is located but in the Polysix and Poly61 it usually eats up the traces on the CPU-Board which cause all kinds of trouble including no sound because of missing triggers.

Re: Boss SE-70 clicking/clock noise on reverb

This adapter should work

12V AC-AC

Not sure if the connector is the right one though.

If the powersource is not the problem then it might be a capacitor, leading to clocksignals bleeding into the audiopath

Cheers

Re: How many people still use an ATARI ST setup?

My 1040ST running DXHeaven is permanently attached to my DX7. It worked perfectly the first time I hooked it up, and works perfectly every time we use it. No-fuss fm programming. Pretty neat. great idea... My ST is still in the attic, but now that i got the DX ... is that Software available on the ...
