Re: Roland System 1 Adding soundbanks
If the patches you have are in SYSEX format, it’s simply a matter of using something like MIDIOX or SYSEX Librarian to send it to what ever MIDI port he System 1 is attached to. The other way would be to install the System 1 plugin into your DAW, launch the DAW, create a track and load the plugin, l...

Re: Are software synths disposable instruments?
Don’t call them disposable, call them fragile. In our modern world everything runs in top of a pile of requirements that our civilization provides, and if we can’t supply that requirement stack the thing ceases to function. Software instruments simply have a few more items in the stack that must be ...

Re: Any Ensoniq MR experts?
just a follow up--I received some blank EPROMS of the correct type and burned them with OS 1.50. That fixed all my problems from the first post. It seems that 1.03 doesn't work correctly with EXP cards (or at least the drum EXP card.)

Re: Moog Werkstatt VCO kill switch / mute?
my memory on this is fuzzy, but on that image on the right side where it says JMP57, there is actually a jumper connecting both sides. cut that and the VCO won't enter the filter. Solder in a switch if you want to turn it on or off.

Re: MicroKorg vs Alesis Ion
So the Ion has a mini version--the Alesis Micron, and the Microkorg has a full sized version--the MS2000. The large of both are about the same price (MS2000 and Ion) and the small of both have about the same price (Microkorg and Micron). So you have two choices--size/knobs vs price and Korg sound or...

Re: MIDI problems with Blofeld and Elektron Digitakt
another question, is the blofeld in multi mode or just normal single patch mode? If you have nothing else on the MIDI cable, and aren't trying to use multi mode, you could set the blofeld to "omni". Basically, if the Digitakt is sending midi notes on the same channel as the blofeld is listening, the...

Re: Standalone Sequencer
There are a lot of standalone sequencers that can function without a laptop, but not all of them load a SMF (standard MIDI file). Depending on what you're doing you might find the best solution to be a workstation (or workstation rack) because they frequently have good sequencers with a floppy to lo...

Any Ensoniq MR experts?
I just got an MR Rack. There is very little info out there on this guy. I had a few question that may be failures, normal behavior, or user error, and I'd like some input. I do have the manual and I'm working though it. When I got it, it had a bad battery which I replaced. It is on a pretty old OS (...

Re: E-mu EOS 4.70 Update Files
The best source I've found for various E-mu files is here:
https://francisfisher.me.uk/problem/201 ... y-archive/
It's not terribly well organized, but a lot of files there. Also the classics can be upgraded to 4.62 if it has enough flash (2mb I think).

Re: Kurzweil K2000: Original sounds or VP/VX sounds(K2500 So
As I understand, from a Brian Cowell posting elsewhere, the early K2000s shipped with a more synth oriented soundset in slots 1-199 originally. Later on, after the K2000 started being picked up mostly as a gig-workstation, the revised the 1-199 soundset to be more meat and potatoes kinds of sounds, ...

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?
No idea. If you want to use them in a mirage, you need DOS/windows and "mwrite" or "omniflop" to write them to a floppy. Using them in PC/Mac software is a different thing that I've never looked at.

Re: Ensoniq Mirage sample library?
so I ripped the disks in the image. A haven't tested the files, or properly labled them, but for now you can get them here: http://xy.cx/synth/mirage/ensoniq_mirage_disks.zip The previous owner of the disks put a numeric sticker on most of them, which you can see in the photo (be sure to get the ful...

Re: The classic Ensoniq sound- best choice?
Basically, changes to programming of a sound are not updated until there is a new keypress, however you are correct that you can program the mod wheel to control filter cutoff, and sweep the filter with the mod wheel.
