i'd love to see a drum machine from them that's not tethered to computers like the spark/le

Re: VSE March Competition: DCO Synths!

having never entered one of these, i might do this, but... how far can i push the "two effects" requirement? if i used reverb as one, does that mean one setting, as a send, maybe, or can i use varying levels of decay for various tracks? does simple eqing count as an effect? i mean, from what it seem...

Re: is it normal for a power supply to buzz? (not through au

i'll definitely look at the tranformers -- the jx3p is far less noisy and is otherwise in excellent shape, but the noisy juno 2 is being loaned to me (indefinitely i guess) and has seen better days... broken keys i can fix no problem, but diodes and the rest might be a bit beyond my skills right now...

is it normal for a power supply to buzz? (not through audio)

I have a jx3p and an alpha juno 2 that have landed in my lap recetly, and both of them make an electrical buzz/hum when turned on -- not thru the audio outs, but from the power supply, inside the synth. is that normal for gear of this age? or should i be worried about a small explosion?

Re: Roland JX showdown: JX-3P vs JX-8P vs Super JX10

I probably will still grab a TX at some point... I might wanna play with some fm soft synth first, though, since it's so foreign to me. A rackmount fm synth might not be the best intro for me!

Re: Roland JX showdown: JX-3P vs JX-8P vs Super JX10

haha, the TX was more "well the lately bass is cool, maybe I'll finally learn fm, and it's cheap!" but the jx+pg looks like a sure thing right now :)

Re: Roland JX showdown: JX-3P vs JX-8P vs Super JX10

Awesome, thanks, everyone! That all kinda confirms what I was feeling but didn't have like, first-hand knowledge about. AND it turns out, just in a stroke of luck, tonight a 3p with the programmer JUST popped up and is available to buy in town now and a pretty dang reasonable price but.....would cle...

Roland JX showdown: JX-3P vs JX-8P vs Super JX10

Without the PG programmers, eBay prices for the three are all pretty equal. Without the programmer, it seems like the 3p is a bit easier to program, but is less ro...
