Re: Moog LP having problems, what to do?

Ok, i'll open it up to take a picture.

EDIT: Upon opening up my phatty I noticed one of the wires had become unseated. I re-seated it and it seems to be alright now!! :D I'm gonna monitor it/ play it for a couple days to see if that's what it was.

Re: Synths and You (the collection of opinions)

1) The synth that made you want to play music: Uhm, FruityLoops 3 was the first thing that got me into composing. It's like the gateway drug to composing, look out! 2) Your first synth: Roland Juno 106. A voice chip died almost immediately, but I didn't care, I was so happy with it. 3) The syn...

Re: Moog LP having problems, what to do?

Look at it this way, your options are: 1. Get it fixed at Moog for $90 an hour. 2. Buy another one used. 3. Find another repairman who is willing to work on it and hope it's cheaper than Moog. Based on the reported symptoms, my guess is something in the power supply, but that's just a guess. Good l...

Moog LP having problems, what to do?

A few months ago I had a serious problem with my LP. I turned it on and suddenly the room was filled with the smell of burnt electronics and the noise coming out of synth through my monitors was just a broken, unnatural drone. All of the LEDs around the knobs were wildly flickering and that horrible...

Re: What keyboard synth is this?

Sorry man, but this picture really isn't enough to go on. All I can see is that it has 5 octaves, 2 or 3 rows of non-membrane buttons , and that it has full sized keys . Other than that, It could be a home keyboard It could be a sampler It could be a compact organ It could be an arranger It could be...

80's polysynths that have aged well/AX80

Hi guys! two parts to this topic! A) So, I'm cruising Craigslist for tempting deals on polysynths. I managed to find an Akai AX80 in "perfect working order" for $450. I message the guy and it's still available. https://images.craigslist.org/00f0f_dr9S9kNwgF3_1200x900.jpg comes with hardshell case as...

odd Prophet 08 PE behavior

I bought an 08 PE almost a year ago now and though I am happy with it 95% I did notice an odd quirk. Often, if I turn on my 08 and immediately go to town shaping a patch with a lot of modulation within 10 seconds of turning on the synth, sometimes the knobs stop responding. If I turn it off and on a...

New sort of Fusiony stuff. 2 songs.

Been listening to a lot of Bitches Brew lately and I decided to return to making some more jazz influenced music. So here are two songs... the first one, "Anomaly is a sort of free jazz meets fusion meets electronic strangeness. I really wasn't trying to make a traditional jazz song and it shows. Ch...

Flatwound strings on an electric-acoustic bass?

I was looking for a bass guitar sound that is somewhere between an upright bass and an electric fretless. Has anyone ever put flatwound strings on an electric-acoustic bass?, for example this Dean EAB fretless http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71Cf1kvvQkL._SX522_.jpg I was wondering how it would...

Dave Smith Instruments OB-6

I'm surprised this hasn't been brought up yet, considering it's the product of a collaboration between Dave Smith & Tom Oberheim. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTbJpVlRI_o This video is more of a teaser trailer.....they only show the synth onscreen as a picture for a few seconds :| https://www.you...

Re: Techno Acid Bassline

Hi guys! Sorry for bumping this thread, but I also am looking to re-create a very specific type of acid techno bassline and I figured it would be redundant to start a new thread when this one is here, so having said that....... The one type of Acid bassline I'm trying to re-create is that seemingly ...

Re: Desktop vs full keyboard synths

What I meant when I said "midi to usb" I meant do you have a device than can take information from your computer and turn it into a midi signal? like one of these: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/images/images500x500/M_Audio_9900_50717_00_MIDISport_UNO_MIDI_Interface_264002.jpg This, combined with a com...
