Korg Poly-61 advice? (keyboard? or?)

(If you dont feel like reading very much skip to the bold text ;) ) So I got this poly-61 years ago, literally years ago, I guess nearly 3 years. I bought it as junk, and the joystick plate was unpopulated when I got it. So I tried to find a joystick to buy for years, only 1 time I had the chance to...

Korg Delta help? Please?

I have a korg delta that I managed to repair half of. When I received the Delta, it just output a pink/white noise sound, on synth and strings. After replacing the 4 tantalum caps and the lm13600's everybody seems to deal with, it got half of it back. Now it works on the synthesizer side, but I got ...

Re: Vintage Analog Mixers (small format)

I have a roland pa-200, it has built in reverb and delay effects that can be individually used for any of the 8 channels.
It is a monstrous beast though... Lift with your legs if you go that route.

Re: review of repair work - Three Wave Music

I must mention this being into the repair side of things, while this is no excuse though. Someone mentioned earlier ( i think?) that despite their extensive know-how on 1 particular piece, that after so many, even they can get stumped. From everything I have learned recently, so many things can be a...

Re: Roland's greatest synth?

Its probably something I cant find / afford. like the system100m. Its nice to see the pieces I own mentioned. From my experience with the d-50 and jp8000, the d-50 wins in my book. That is probably all due to its predominant use in that time (TMNT, Akira, etc.). The jp8000 is especially great for it...

Re: smoking prophet600! fire?!

Tested the voices and if I start from the correct keys, all 6 voices for both oscillators work a treaaat.
Going to have to clean the keyboard contacts, but this is solved now. Thanks everyone. :D

Re: smoking prophet600! fire?!

fixed the PSU, now all that is dandy. I used a bucking transformer just to see if the voltage would correspond, and it did. Now this beautiful thing is working, nearly. The prophet600 has some intermittent keys. I swapped all voice CEM's around, but still having a random troublesome key/note here or...

Re: (SCI TOM) Cold solder joints?

continuity is good on every trace I touched... & like I mentioned, after the z-80 was replaced, it worked. it failed to work when it got bolted up in its case. after soldering was successful.. cant upload any pictures, but the schematic should not be too hard to find. searching google for "tom 420 s...

Re: (SCI TOM) Cold solder joints?

Thanks for the replies everyone. Now for another strange question, if there is an empty through hole, like a dead end? If there is no solder in that hole, will it not work? the 7 segment displays are not working after putting it back together. it worked before the board went back into the case. the ...

Re: smoking prophet600! fire?!

Never got around to taking pictures, but it is definitely the fiveG ver.6E3.1 with noise, etc. I am surprised that there is not many gaijin mentioning that upgrade... I am thinking about how I can redesign the PSU section to trim some voltage. Since the transformer is rated for 100v and not switchab...

Re: smoking prophet600! fire?!

speaking of smoke, maybe there was some holy smoke in this thing... this came from nippon! according to fiveG Ver.6E3.1にアップグレードすることで、プリセット・メモリーが2倍になりMIDIチャンネルの指定ができるようになります。 また、音源にノイズが追加されます。 費用は26,250円です。ご購入と同時なら改造費は10%OFFです。 or pre-set it by upgrading it with Ver.6E3.1, and memory doubles and come...

Re: smoking prophet600! fire?!

Yeah, there is a board with what looks to be an opamp, a few caps... right by the output jack. there is a board near where the recently marketed firmware update would be also... Im going to try something else before removing the boards, they look good from both sides. just interesting I cant find an...

Re: smoking prophet600! fire?!

replaced the bridge of diodes, it seemed to fix everything nearly. testing regulators showed that 3 of the 4 were working/outputting +5/-5/-15. turned it off, turned it back on to do another test on what voltage is going where, then got nothing on the voltage regulators. I also noticed this thing ha...

Re: Yamaha CS70M?

Not so sure about this... lots of custom ICs inside, and -- even though it´s been simplified and nowhere near as complex as a CS80 inside -- full of inherent problems due to complexity. I think I´d only buy a broken one to gut it for spare parts. Stephen You could be right... Hard to say without se...

Re: smoking prophet600! fire?!

getting 24v and 48v from the transformer. I cant read schematics... Looking at the board though? Looks like a trace goes directly from the transformer to the 16v 3300µf cap. EDIT: that trace is ground. Just found out that the ESR meter is probably reading a bunch of other things in circuit... EDIT: ...
