Re: Some newbie questions

4. Most sequencer videos I’ve looked at online seem to be very “rigid” – only playing one type of notes (1/4, 1/8 etc) at a time. Is there a way to use a sequencer that mixes different note lengths? Would this affect the number of steps available? I.e. would it require that every step is 1/16 notes...

Re: DIY Modular Synth help

The above mentioned Keystep Pro isn't even available yet. It is announced for March 20 ;): https://www.arturia.com/products/hybrid-synths/keystep-pro/overview However, there are the Keystep (without "Pro") and Beatstep Pro controllers (also by Arturia), both of which are very common among modular sy...

Re: Have mini moog - on to sequensers - ?

Not being a pianist - I am less interested in fully functioned chords with separate filters. That's not all there is. For instance, imagine playing and holding a three note chord in the lower register. It started with a fairly loud attack but got quieter in volume by now. Now you want to start a me...

Re: Have mini moog - o to sequensers - ?

What I am really looking to do is have some fun Have a cohesive backing element And just play on top of it That requires a sequencer of sorts; a monophonic one will do in this case. There are loads of them, many of which aren't too expensive - for instance, the Arturia Beatstep (Pro) and Keystep, t...

Re: Help me recognize a synth

Same here. These double keyboard manuals are mostly found in organs.

And the logo in the bottom right says "FENIX". Perhaps some vintage combo organ, as they were mass produced some decades ago?

can you send me a link on how to do a factory reset (or just describe it in detail?
It's in the service manual, iirc (it's been a while since I replaced the battery in my DX21).

Re: Yamaha dx100 blank display

I just put it back together. But now the display is blank. Doubled checked, no connection on the display is loose. What do you think could have happened? It still produces sound so I know the whole thing didnt just die. Sounds like there is either a connection mistake (triple check, and possibly ha...

Re: Help with synthesizing a high pitched hissing sound

Thanks for your reply. I tried that this morning and has helped me get a bit closer. I still can't seem to get that sssss or well defined hiss sound. I'll keep tweaking, thanks again. Don't know if that's what you're after, but high resonance settings can lead to really cool sounds =D> . Just tweak...

White noise (since it features all frequencies) through a HP filter 8-) :) .

Re: Synth stopped producing sound!..

With some luck, you just accidentally pulled a ribbon cable connecting the keyboard and the synth as such off its connector (perhaps not even completely but enough to lose proper contact). I'd check that first.

Re: Non-ideal square waves

The 'corners' may be rounded a little bit, or have 'spikes' (note the difference between the SoundLab Ultimate and the other two). The vertical parts pf the curve may in fact not be exactly vertical (see the third picture in particular!), and so on. I have added three pictures that should give you a...

Re: Yamaha MU50 Battery Replacement

The unit hadn't been turned on for a long time but these days, it is powered many hours per week. I don't know what to do: the battery should be replaced given its age, but I fear to "brick" the device by doing something inappropriate. I wouldn't put too much trust in this. I suggest saving/storing...

Re: Yamaha MU50 Battery Replacement

Replacing a battery is usually not such a big deal. First save/store all data you still require from your MU50. Desolder the battery, solder in a battery holder (make sure to connect it in the correct polarity), and insert the new battery. Upload the data you stored before, and/or do a factory reset...
