Re: Looking forward...

It's as likely to be software, rather than hardware. Which would mean that todays' PCs could be the new thing. well one thing that really should happen more with software is to let go of the idea of it being an emulation of a piece of hardware .. theres so much more that could happen especially in ...

Re: Looking forward...

the Beat Thang will be coveted .. ha no but seriously I sorta think that the experimentation phase is over in some ways .. there hasnt been very many modern synths that really stand out in the same way as 303's etc I dont really see any modern synths being iconic in that way so really sorta doubt th...

Re: Saying it's live with a laptop next ....

I used a laptop running jeskola buzz with a controller and a joy stick for years and it was definitely "live" but I personally began to miss the "risk" factor … I think that at least for a certain level of musician (i.e. not taylor swift or whatever ) having your chops down and being "tight" is one ...

Re: Solton Programmer vs. Quasimidi Sirius?

I use the Quasi Midi Sirius quite a bit and to be honest have found it to be not only kinda glitchy but also that the sequencer being limited to 8 steps to be sorta limiting as well ...Im actually in the process of replacing it with several rack synths and transferring all my MIDI sequencing to a MP...

Re: Help Me Find Better Alternative To Alesis MMT-8

Im pretty sure you can do that with an mpc .. my mpc500 has recently taken the place of my old mmt8 and the pads are much nicer to trigger then the mmt8 .

MPC500 volume issue

Hello , I have a MPC500 that I really love for a number of reasons but have noticed lately that any sample i play with it (off all sorts, Normalized or not and recorded in at unity ) sounds really quiet compared to the original and also when compared to other instruments (set at unity on the unit an...

Re: Which Hardware Sequencer for full songs?

Ive had some success recording MIDI directly into my mpc from my DAW (exact same functionality as the MMt8 in many ways ) The cool thing about the MPC is that it can hold a whole bunch more MIDI information in general and using track unmutes you can also do really easy build ups etc by putting each ...

Re: Which Hardware Sequencer for full songs?

Ive done whole albums with a mmt8 + mpc 500 . Definitely do NOT need software to have a kick a*s midi sequencer .

Re: Synth Horror Stories

I think the worse thing thats ever happened to any gear of mine was this one time I was playing an industrial set at this dive bar and the bar tender thru a bottle of beer at me , it smashed against my yamaha cs-5 and I was really freaked out and pissed but i got home opened it up and let it dry and...

Re: Patchblocks: Create Your Own Programmable Modular Synth

didnt realise there was already a thread for this .. sorry ill delete the other one .. the thing I was thinking that might be cool about these is making really simple effects etc .. (i doubt anyone is going to be building the equivalent of a full blow synth with these ..) but yeah for 30 bucks you c...
