Is it possible to assign parameters to be controlled via a Midi controller?
I assume you mean in the editor? No that isn't possible currently.

Re: M1000 Manager: An Oberheim Matrix-1000 Patch Editor

about programming the Mod Matrix. I inspected the Sysex strings using MIDI OX and I see that you always have to send a group of 3 values (source, amount destination) within every single Sysex string That's the only way I know of to change Mod Matrix values. Or is there a workaround using several ch...

Re: M1000 Manager: An Oberheim Matrix-1000 Patch Editor

Just a question though. Is the editor able to recognize SYSEX strings coming at its Input MIDI and adjust sliders on-screen accordingly? I've tried that but it doesn't seem to work. I assume you mean recognize SYSEX strings coming from some separate hardware MIDI controller? No, that's not currentl...

M1000 Manager: An Oberheim Matrix-1000 Patch Editor

I have just released the M1000 Manager, a modern looking, intuitive patch editor for the Oberheim Matrix-1000, for Windows and Linux. The M1000 Manager is free of charge but donations are appreciated if you find the M1000 Manager useful. The M1000 Manager has been optimized to reduce MIDI data traff...

Re: Novation Ultranova discontinued in USA

My guess is that sales have dwindled since the JD-Xi came out as the JD-Xi raised the bar with 4 parts multi-timbrality and 129 voices. Maybe Novation will bring out a successor that can compete with the JD-Xi? That would be something to look forward to, they could integrate a cut down version of th...

Re: Tonewise upgrading the SY77 to SY99 specs

Could you please rephrase your last post for laymen?
Which components (a picture would be very helpful) need to be replaced with which ones to get better output on the SY/TG77?
Thanks in advance.

Good job, I wish I had your soldering skills, as I have many electronic devices that need repairing (not just synths).

Re: [NOOB] Roland D-50 info on .syx transfer

You need a patch librarian program for the D50.

I don't own a D50 so can't help you further but maybe googling 'Roland D50 librarian' will help you find the software you need.

Most likely leaked caps in the output section. Korg synths from that period are well known for that. Check also the underside of the board.

Re: Are software synths disposable instruments?

It's usually cheap power supplies that kill motherboards (with power spikes and unstable voltages). If you want a PC to live long then buy a good power supply for it. From my experience Seasonic power supplies are the most stable ones available for PCs and it's not just me saying this, plenty review...

Or even better make Sonar opensource, i.e. publish the full source code on github, so that it will become a free community developed DAW.

Re: Custom-built multi-bank Roland M-256/M-512 memory cards

Roland PCM cards (at least the ones for the JV series) are physically incompatible, they are much shorter and have a different connector so there is no way you can use to existing card as a PCM card.
Also how would you copy anything on it?

Congratulations, I know very well how hard it is to follow through such a project up to the end, it's always far more work than envisioned initially, but you made it! =D>
