I'm glad you did. I want to learn it. Probably start when I get home, if I don't forget.

C=0, 32', -3 Octaves?

Are all these the same? I'm trying to duplicate a patch from one synth with another. The first synth uses the Organ stops method, 8', 16', 32' I believe that's an octave down, two octaves down, & three octaves down respectively. My other synth allows a variable range from C0 to C10. If I'm to assume...

Re: Poll: how do you feel about pirated/cracked DAW software

Just curious....my honest answer would be all of the above at certain points over the past ten years. EDIT: uuuupdated! I've used pirated software in the past, because I didn't care to spend the craploads of cash just to determine whether it was something I could use or not. This was way back befor...

Re: that sequential circuits font

I thought this was interesting. The Nord Lead is their first foray into the arcane world of synthesis, and the instrument itself (which they call 'nord lead' in a lower-case typeface chosen to look suspiciously like the old Moog logo) is what they call a VAS, or Virtual Analogue Synthesis instrument...

Re: I don't want to play piano

I'm pretty sure one of the things that hurt me as a player was not developing my ear. I'm using this as an opportunity to fix that. By far the best way to do that is to sing, especially sight singing. Nothing beats making your own body vibrate, it is physically internalising the learning. So... sin...

Re: I don't want to play piano

Just get used to having your left hand in an octave shape (thumb and little finger) play some octave bass notes. within seconds you should have a sequence of 4 strung together that sound nice. Now, take your right hand and play some notes at the same time and see how it sounds. Soon enough you'll h...

Re: Alpha Juno & DSI Prophet 08

I think trying out a Prophet 600 would just be a waste of time for you if you already have and are enjoying the Prophet 08. The 08 is very similar to the 600, just better (in my opinion). Glad to hear you like the 08, though. I have been back and forth on buying one of those for a long time now. We...

Re: Alpha Juno & DSI Prophet 08

Solderman, Thanks for the link. I may look it up when I get home. I agree with the Alpha not being juicy enough, or at least I haven't heard anything on the internets yet to suggest it'll get there. What sold me on the Alpha Juno was that quacky lead thing he had going & the calv stabs. Well that, &...

Re: I don't want to play piano

Say that reminds me. Why is it so hard to find sheet music on the internet? Like I said, it's way to easy to find guitar tabs of basically any song you want. For years, guitar players around the world have been tabing songs & publishing them on the internet. They have several sites whose sole purpos...

Re: I don't want to play piano

Anyway if you haven't learned to site read, I would say you are in a great position to use the keys to learn to read. If you are already at that point on the keys, then great. If not, lol, then you should really learn to play piano. Everything will be more natural if you do. Get a beginner book, an...
