Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...
Quite aside from getting those old machines working again - the 3D printing of replacement keyboard parts was particularly intriguing - you've done a really beautiful job of refurbishing them. I just went back to the first pictures of Klaus Shulze's GDS looking rather tired to compare with how it lo...

Re: Modulus 002 --- new synth from UK
Dammit, we're getting used to buying into beta versions of video games, but buying a beta version of a synthesizer for $4000? no f-ing way. Please don't take this personally, but... This sort of reaction is why I'm reluctant to talk about the current status of the synth. Modulus are a new company, ...

Re: Modulus 002 --- new synth from UK
I haven't done any recording with mine since the update (I'm up to my eyeballs in work) so I can't comment on whether the MIDI implementation has improved. A quick look at some recordings I'd done previously where the 002 was being driven from Logic via a Roland Quad Capture suggest that the total l...

Re: Modulus 002 --- new synth from UK
The animator update came out about a week ago. Basically, it's just like the sequencer minus the gate length and velocity rows since those wouldn't make any sense. So you have 12 rows that can control any of the voice parameters, it's triggered when you play a key and it runs at the current tempo. A...

Variations Competition: Winner
There's been exactly one entry for the Variations competition :? and no comments or submissions for over a month. https://soundcloud.com/VSEVariations Not much point in setting up a voting thread, then. So thank you, Black Tomorrow, for taking on the challenge. I hope you do a better job of choosing...

Re: VSE Variations Competition - September 2014
I was just thinking how great a competition would be right now and then remembered about this one. Haven't heard any news for a while and it's been a month since the last deadline...any more entries to speak of? Nope. Sorry I haven't been around; work has been getting a bit crazy. I think it's time...

Re: Modulus 002 --- new synth from UK
The update with the sequencer was released two days ago so I'm still finding my way round it, but here are some basic specs (hopefully I've got this correct ;) ): Storage for 10,000 sequences. A sequence has 12 tracks that can be sent to the synth voices in multitimbral mode (not available right now...

Re: Modulus 002 --- new synth from UK
Can you comment a bit on the sequencer and the animator? If you're interested then just be aware that Modulus are still working on the OS and some of the features aren't complete yet. Unfortunately I can't tell you anything at the moment because the sequencer and animator are the main features that...

Re: Moog Sub 37
I notice that Gear4Music here in the UK are now saying January 2015... hopefully that's for new orders. The dealer I have an order with can't give me a date at the moment because they never received the shipment they were expecting in September. The question is rapidly becoming whether it'll turn up...

Re: VSE Variations Competition - September 2014
Right at the moment we have just one entry from Black Tomorrow. I'd originally set the end date for 1st October, but I think that needs to be extended. So I'll set the new date for two weeks from today, 21st October , to give anyone working on an entry a date to aim for. ;) C'mon folks... please sav...

Re: Modulus 002 --- new synth from UK
For the UK folks, The Chairworks studio in Castleford are also a dealer, as are Kasbar Systems in Bedfordshire. I had a play at The Chairworks and ended up buying one  because this is a synth with a particularly pleasing sound. Using the standard saw and pulse waveforms with the filter in 24d...

Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...
I find these ancient digital monsters very fascinating. The thing that intrigues me about some of them - and the GDS / Synergy in particular - is that they offer methods of synthesis that haven't been seen since because, as Dan said, they'd still be expensive and difficult to implement. Think of th...

Yes, the theme can be your own composition. Anything you like, as long as the theme can be recognised in your variations.Black Tomorrow wrote:Does this mean variations on an already existing theme, or can we compose the theme that will run through each variation?
