Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...

Nicely the GDS system returned to Los Angeles, with the help of RockIt Cargo, who are the most experienced movers for musical sound gear. I've used them for years, especially with tough things like this, or a Mellotron MkII I once had sent to LA from Scotland. Best thing is to tell them "there's no ...

Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...

SO thankful you're doing such excellent (and diligent) work on these. Without question, the right person for the job. I'm glad present situations allowed me to ship you the newly-found GDS from California, and to have enough work going to pay for this (necessary) restoration. It is true that the dum...

Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...

Yes, Stoney had announced his unit for offer, but no one knew about the announcement. We all learnt of its "passing" too late! Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...

I'm wondering if there is a REMOTE possibility that that Tangerine Dream controller keyboard could be made to work - you'd have to make PCBs (not easy but possible from scans and photos of ours) and stuff them, flash some ROMs etc etc. But considering what the system could be, you actually have the ...

Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...

Agreed, except nothing feels as good as a Chroma! The overlay you seek is one of several - as you might imagine the system IS programmable and customisable, so I will get some photos of various ones we could use to recreate our own. Not too hard, and most-helpful, depending on the mode and version o...

Re: The Crumar GDS Restoration Blog...

I have a GDS in good condition with many disks. Also have access to another with as many discs, many dozen. Plus documentation. I suggest buying any VT100-standard terminal off eBay... Not expensive and designed to work with the system. The cryoflux system is what I will be using to archive these di...
