Re: Which synth was your first love or lighted your G.A.S. ?
My first real synth purchase was a Prophet 600. I added the little fsk card sync midi widget ( can't remember what it was called ). I think this was right about the time the midi standard was large scale introduced. I also went in big for the K1000 and K2000R with sampler and full card bump. Still h...

Re: removing hum from transformer?
I used to make transformers many years ago. Typically they are vacuum impregnated with varnish. This is what really glues everything together deep in the core windings and laminates. Clamping them may not help them and can actually break the seals between laminates. Securing the coil windings to the...

I second that. I was awed by his command of the Moog modular as a kid. A real pioneer.

Re: Kurzweil 1000 series upgrades
I think I only added the B block and system Eproms to my PX. It did require new system Chip updates to recognize the new PXB block. There's also a jumper to be mindful of when adding the new block. I still had patches that I wrote from the mid 90's when I had a very early release of the K1000 Keyboa...

Re: Kurzweil 1000 series upgrades
I did this fairly recently with a 1000PX. You add new OS Eproms chips as well as the sound bank eproms. It's pretty easy to do and there's good info from this site. http://k1000.net/problems.htm I also found info on a long reported repair for cracked solder joints on the Power supply board. 5 minute...

Re: How to tune to 432hz on P8 module?
Most Pedal style tuners allow you to set "A" to 440 concert or a number of detune offsets. Also you should be able to use a tuner within your daw. I like G-tune as a simple low overhead tuner . I've done this before by simply dialing in a sine wave and dialing the oscillator into pitch.

Re: K2000 floppy issue's...I thijk
It's been many years since I dug into my K2k. I think you're issue is likely a problem related to where the programs load ( which banks and program numbers ) and how they're linked to the locations of the specific samples being called for in the new programs. The location for the sample rom voices a...

Re: ARP String-Ensemble SE-IV dead keys need action adjustme
I haven't worked on the String ensemble directly - but I have worked on other older Arps. It's likely that you'll need to adjust the fine J wires that contact the buss bar. Sometimes a very light cleaning or sanding on the buss barr is needed. It's kind of fine work and likely support components nee...

Re: Best Digital Synth to Compliment Analog Setup
I'd recommend a Roland JV-1080 or 2080 rack mount. They cover the D-50 and other 90's digital quite well, and can be pretty convincing with orchestral / new agey synth acoustic emu sounds. They're dirt cheap too. You can typically get them for less than 200.00 . A couple of add-on cards can cost mor...

Re: The Idiosyncrasies of the Oberheim DSX.
It's possible that the issue with controlling the Taurus pitch is because Oberheim and moog use different volts/oct scaling. I bet if you did a few searches related to this on the forum the answer be pretty clear. I haven't dug into this in any way but I think recall reading a few threads about this...

Re: how to vintage your synth
I didn't watch the U tube video-- But I certainly get what's going on in it from the comments. You know I remember the WHO smashing their instruments on stage back in the late 60's early 70's. That was a completely amateurish thing to do...very imature. To this day I can't stand their music - and no...
