Re: which synth for a FUN factor?
- KORG MS20 MINI: this is a jump to the past, a must have machine...quite a learning curve, but worth it...I have listened to it with some reverb and space echo ...astonishing! The only learning curve is the weird filter EG behavior and the ESP section. Other than that it's really bone simple...mos...

which synth for a FUN factor?
These days I am twisted to invest some budget for a synth...to include in my setup, but mainly to have great FUN as a standalone (with just some pedals to add). I am already enjoying a Moog SubPhatty, just added a MFB Tanzbar, and soon to introduce a Bloferld to complete the sound palette for my mai...

Re: The Rentals tone with new budget synth (Minibrute, MS-20
I agree with the above short-review; personally, I have chosen a SubPhatty...it is an immediate synth to twist-play-have fun...with the iconic Moog sound. If you are willing to look at the second-hand market, there are many SubPhatty on sale (many people sell it to pass to a Sub37). The BS2 is compl...

Re: Synth to Complement Sub 37
I was in a similar situation...I had a Sub Phatty to integrate with Ableton Live, working on "base sounds" for ads/tv/movie....I needed a poly-synth to integrate to the SubPhatty. I chose a Yamaha MX49...it gives me a wide palette of sounds which I can tweak via Ableton, and they perfect mix with th...

Re: Stacking oscillators on the Minibrute
That is what I was looking :D I am in the process to get a bundle with Waldorf Streichfett, Arturia Microbrute/Beatsteps, Korg Volca Beats  Now, I d need some advice how to stack them as well using the Sub Phatty  Arturia Beatsteps ----midi--> Waldorf Streichfett, Subphatty ----midi--> ...

Re: Waldorf Streichfett
Completely fell in love with this beauty.
I believe it matches perfect with my actual SubPhatty....and the idea is to get the whole bundle including the Streichfett, and the Arturia Microbrute & Beatsteps.
How to link them together is still "under constructions" topic....hmmmm

Re: Moog Sub 37 Vs Moog Sub Phatty
I am extremely happy about my Moog Sub Phatty...great sound, great built quality, fantastic machine.
However, I will sell it for a Sub37...much better interface, Sequencer/Arpeggiator, many many parameters to mod, and a good bank of preset which can be useful at any stage.

Re: please suggest my first synth
Ok so it looks like I'm in a toss up between the miniature, minibrute and maybe the novation bass station 2? Can all of these program some fast acid bass lines if I must need to do so? Like will I be able to fine tune the finger envelopes and automate the portamento and filter very detailed in albe...

Re: please suggest my first synth
Sub Phatty is everything you need, fantastic bass, lead sound, ambiance deep patches to create....I love it! just I am missing an arpeggiator/sequencer to have a truly "hands on knobs" experience (easy fix linking it with some iPad apps). Novation Bass Station 2 ... you have everything minus Moog so...

h**l yeah get a bass station 2! ...... and yes the sub 37 is pretty much a sub phatty with a v8 under the hood, is it nice, h**l yah, ..... The two you just mentioned are my goal....selling bass/guitars, to be able to have a setup with a Sub37 and a Bass Station 2. For the Poly, I need to study the...

Re: What beside or in place of a Moog Sub Phatty?
For a polysynth as next-step, I am practicing on a midi keyboard and time to time to my son's keyboard.....@ today, the stronger option is to sell the Sub Phatty and go for a Sub 37...big leap ahead; while I d practice the poly, it would be a big leap ahead.
