Re: Steve Winwood and the Multimoog
I know this is an old thread, but was he using a CS-80 or a Prophet 5 for that unique, warm and synthetic piano sound on TBTTN?

Re: Lead Synth on A-Ha's Take on Me?
Does anyone know what drum machine was used here? Sounds nothing like the Linns/DMX's/808's which were popular around the time this was made. Maybe a Fairlight? (Yeah, I know it's kinda unrelated
)

Re: Synth Demos That Make You Want The Synth
It's not a product demo, but it makes me want a CS-80 and JP-4 greatly.

Re: A particular Fairlight sample...
That sample is called "Scrape" - see it on the listing here: http://synthroom.com/wordpress/wp-content/gallery/fairlight-iix-floppy-disk-collection-12-03-14/kirk-keyes-fairlight-iix-disks-00079.jpg I thought I'd heard it in the IIX library as well. Try SSSTTT in the Effect 1 disk. If you don't have...

A particular Fairlight sample...
I have the whole CMI IIx library in WAV, but it doesn't seem to include a certain sample. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rxYJXw3Nzfc It's heard here at 0:29 (The sample sounds like recording of someone dropping a tin can) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQA7NN9vptU and here at 2:01 Anybody have a W...

Don't forget the Linn LM-1 which is heard on 'Arpegiator' and 'Souvenier of China'Micke wrote:

Re: What synth makes this sound?
I just did a quick search and I finally found a photo of Simon and Garfunkel with a Fairlight - here they are from 1982 with a Fairlight behind them:

What synths did Maurice Jarre use?
What synths did Maurice Jarre (the father of Jean-Michel Jarre) use? I'm not totally familiar with that many of his scores so this could be a vague question.
You can definitely hear a sawtooth brass/pad at 1:40
Synclavier maybe?

Re: Gary Numan drum machine on "The Fury"
He only used the LM-1 from Dance to Warriors. He also used the CR-78 on earlier albums (Telekon and Dance), but the sounds used on The Fury are either from a sampler, alternate drum machine eproms (from a Linn 9000 possibly), or what Jinsai said.ppg_wavecomputer wrote:My guess would be Linn LM-1.

Vangelis's Fender Rhodes
I know this isn't a synth, but bear with me. The Fender Rhodes he had (from the 70's, up to 1984ish)...What kind of mods did he have on it? I love the rich bell sounds (almost like a Celesta) he got on it. example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VupxqjTGAyk (at 0:37) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v...
