Re: Akai S20 Floppy Disk Error ("ERRD")

I don't have the service manual, unfortunately. Have you come across this page? http://floppy.shugart.free.fr/page.php?page=materiels/akai/remix16/index.htm Although from what you've said, it seems the drives are functional, and the cables aren't reversed, so it probably is a problem with the S20 it...

Re: Akai S20 Floppy Disk Error ("ERRD")

Are you sure of the PSU? I would think that disk use would pull more current than any other operation. Maybe the PSU you sourced isn't up to the job. I also wouldn't presume that a floppy drive that works in one S-series model will work in another. Akai may have used a non-standard pin out/controlle...

Re: That point in which sequencing MIDI just seems like a ch

Have you looked at Zaquencer? A shedload of features, much more hands on than an MC-whatever or MMT8.

Maybe not enough for complex compositions, but you can always record a few audio takes and then mix and match.

Re: Virus Snow MIDI Map setup

Did you get this sorted? The CC list is correct, it's decimal, and Bome's displays hexadecimal. 40=28 ((2x16)+8) For LFO3 rate, it's SysEx. In the Novation editor, choose SysEx, type the code displayed in Bomes, leaving a space between each pair, and leaving out the initial F0 and final F7 (the soft...

Re: Help with Midi-Ox settings for old synths

Glad you got it working :D It might be worth your while dumping a patch back into the PC, and back again to your Peavey, just to check that there's no corruption going on through your MIDI interface. Like I said, some of those no name devices aren't the best with SysEx. How big are the files? If the...

Re: Yamaha TX16W archive is back

Yeah, it's hard to let go of certain things. I know I'll never get rid of my A4000, it was my first serious piece of gear, and considering the time (and money) I've put into it, plus the fact that it still does a job, well, there's no choice. BTW, I came across ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/sci/audio/instr...

Re: Yamaha TX16W archive is back

Excellent, looking forward to digging through these. Also usable on A-series (Original Yamaha format of course)

I hope your TX16W found a good home, no takers on Adverts?

Re: Help with Midi-Ox settings for old synths

I prefer Bome's Send SX, it's a lot more straightforward to use than MIDI-OX for SysEx dumps. Never had a problem, even with massive files for my Chameleon. Failing that, you may need to try a different MIDI interface, some of those cheaper class compliant devices don't handle SysEx too well. Have y...

Re: Good crunchy, dirty, lofi samplers

The Yamaha A-series have similar features, you can sample at 44/22/11/5 kHz, or 22/11/5 without the anti-alias filters for some really dirty sounds. They'll also load just about any .wav from disk. Fancy an 8 bit/8kHz drum sound? No problem. Also lots of effects on board, some of them pretty nasty. ...

Re: MS-20 mini & Pulse+ CV tuning

This is 100% normal. Those two are totally incompatible!!!! Read this. The Waldorf uses the same CV standard as Roland. Eh, no. The Pulse does generate Hz/V, and S-trig as I mentioned. There is also a control to set the scaling, to get it tempered, which I have done. I was just wondering if it's no...

MS-20 mini & Pulse+ CV tuning

First post here, hello to everyone So I picked up th mini a few weeks ago, really happy with it. I'd done a bit of research beforehand, trying to work out if the Pulse+ would work with S-Trig, surprisingly little info out there, but anyway, it does. The manual isn't too clear, it does mention Hz/V f...
