I've got a 4mb EPS-16 Plus (It's the turbo model).

Re: Reissues you'd like to see...

I'm gonna go waaaaay out there and say I would love a modern reissue of the Atari ST.

Also, MPC1000. I think the market could really benefit from a current-production hardware sampler that doesn't need to be tied to a computer and isn't octatrack expensive.

Re: Ensoniq EPS-16+ Disk Reading Issues

Update: For some reason (who knows why), the EPS actually read a few floppies. After loading the floppy and putting a different one in, the list of instruments available to load won't update, but it'll still let me load instruments from the old disk as long as they're the same number. I'm trying to ...

I've been considering this, but also I just bought 50 DSDDs and I'm gonna feel so stupid if I can't actually make any use of them.

Ensoniq EPS-16+ Disk Reading Issues

So I've been using my EPS 16+ (the rack version) for a little while now, and it's great. I really love this thing. Very recently, however, I noticed that I haven't been able to load any instruments from disks, even disks that were working just fine in the past. This seemed strange, considering it re...

Re: Yamaha Reface

That sounds about right. This also has mainstream written all over it. I can see Taylor Swift playing one of these just like she plays the guitar...same goes for Lil Wayne. Because god forbid a musical instrument has appeal outside the insular world of synth nerds. Also, are we implying that Lil Wa...

Electribe Sampler vs. Roland SP404

Alright, so I'm currently looking for a hardware sampler for live use, and just to mess around with while on the train. Ideally, it'd be able to sample (duh), slice, edit, and sequence samples, be midi controllable (or at least syncable), able to store things longer than one shots, and have plenty o...

Man, these things are gonna be slick as h**l in a price drop or two. And second hand.

Re: Yamaha Reface

I actually can't wait to try out that YC. I've wanted a YC-20 for forever and this may actually be able to scratch that itch on the cheap. Those rocker switches. Also, I'm probably in a minority here, but I think a smaller synth with some built in speakers has the potential to be hella fun (as long ...

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

Oh man, guess who found a bunch of usable DSDD floppies on the free. 8-) Since I've been able to actually save samples, I've finally been getting into this thing and lemme tell you, it's been a blast. I kind of wish it had keyboard support, but hey. While I've still got everyone, is there any way to...

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

I don't know if the floppy drive is the problem, since it seems to be reading the boot disc just fine and it sounds like it should. But at the same time, I'm gonna feel like the world's biggest idiot if I buy some DSDD floppies of ebay for $20 a pack (they ain't going cheap these days) and they don...

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

Alright, so what kind of floppies would y'all reccommend? Because I keep getting "disk data corrupted" messages when trying to format floppies. I've found a couple sources that say "don't use HD floppies, use DSDD" but the disk I've been booting from is HD. Is there a specific brand you guys have fo...

Re: Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

Wow, everyone. You guys really came through on the advice. Thanks so much! My next question is specific to the EPS: What the heck do I do about storage. Apparently it only takes 720k floppies? Is it worth it to convert a bunch of 1.44mb floppies to 720ks? Because it looks like they're pretty expensi...

Hardware Sampler Question (Mostly just "why")

So, I had a ridiculous stroke of luck recently. A few years back, a friend's dad picked up an Ensoniq EPS 16+ (rackmount version) from a local college, for something close to ten dollars (I think). Long story short, it lived on a floor for a while before making its way to me for free. So my question...
