Re: Akai S612 Sound Library Archive Project.

I had an X-7000 myself, which I sold years ago, but fondly remember several very nice samples I had from those Akai QD disks. I now have a different sampler, but it would be great to source those sounds again. I think the OP's idea is great, and it would be a win-win for everybody. Have you had any ...

Re: Nik Kershaw synths

A little late joining, but.... which gear was used on "Dancing girls"? The drums seem to be a Roland TR-808 (at least partly, or heavily processed it seems) -can anyone confirm this? I really love the bass -Prophet 5? I'd love to hear anything related to the production of that song. I haven't found...

Re: Studio Electronic SE-1 external input

That's fantastic thank you very much I really appreciate it! I'm glad you like it and you're still here to read it. Sorry about the long delay -it appears sometimes I'm not alerted about new postings. Be sure to re-read my guide as I've just edited both the text and photos so things should be a lot...

Re: Studio Electronic SE-1 external input

I'm the OP and just read your reply. Hope this is still of interest. Adding an external filter input to the SE-1 If your SE-1 didn't come with a factory-installed "External input" on the back panel (right next to the audio out jack) you can easily add an external filter input jack yourself. My SE-1 ...

Re: FOUND IT! Oberheim DMX Cowbell voice card

DesolationBlvd : how did it work out with that new cowbell/claps voice card? :?: I've just gotten into replacing some of the sounds in my DMX! So far I've replaced the "long" toms with the original ones (used in New order's Blue Monday" and Herbie Hancock's "Rockit"), so that sounds great! I also r...

Re: Roland D-110 dim backlight

Almost correct... :) The connection is identical to the original one EXCEPT pins 1 and 2 have to be swapped ( more detailed explanations and a diagram here ). Luckily that's all there's to it (no need for extra wires for the backlight as it's all taken care of with that 14-pin connector). http://i6...

Re: Oberheim DMX: replacing battery, cleaning switches

I realize this thread is old, but did the OP find out which type of battery to replace it with? I know it's a 3.6V NiCd battery, but not how many mA. (I need to replace my DMX battery as well and the current one (which no longer works) is of a different size/type). UPDATE : I've been told it's aroun...

Re: Roland D-110 dim backlight

UPDATE: I haven't had much time lately to complete this project but I got an idea (about how to mount the new display securely).... For the right side of the display I think Robber1956's solution shown in his second photo should work.I'm going to try to get some thin scrap metal to put behind the ex...

Re: Roland D-110 dim backlight

Please explain what you mean by the display being clamped to the D-110. Yes, double-sided tape could be an option for softening the mounting between the front panel and the display (there's some orange soft sticky stuff on mine which is falling apart), but I wouldn't rely on it being the only way to...

Re: Roland D-110 dim backlight

As you can see in one of my pictures I used a 'L' shaped aluminium profile 2 x 3 cm. Your pictures are in this post, right ? I had some problems with the image sizes when quoting that posting, so I've just pasted those 3 below instead: http://i64.tinypic.com/33tk0hz.jpg http://i64.tinypic.com/ds753...

Re: Roland D-110 dim backlight

I finally got the time to properly make a new cable and attach it to the new display, and it works perfectly! When completely done mounting it I'll post a summary for new readers (so they don't have to read through all my mistakes first  ). The new display I bought has a beautiful green backlig...

Re: Harold Faltermeyer (80's, Beverly Hills cop, Fletch etc.

Too true my neighbouring countryman ;) Did you give in and buy those CDs? The two CDs (it says "currently available for the "Beverly Hills cop I" CD, but awaiting new stock in January....!!?!??) would cost US$ 16.56 in shipping alone, totalling US$ 56.46 and with import duties it would grand total a...

Re: Harold Faltermeyer (80's, Beverly Hills cop, Fletch etc.

You're welcome, logix Yes I got them directly from La-La land records. At US$ 56.50, it wasn't cheap but well worth the money. Plus perhaps even import duties :o That's the soundtrack scores CDs for "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Beverly Hills Cop II", right? There's no released full score for "Fletch", ...

Re: Harold Faltermeyer (80's, Beverly Hills cop, Fletch etc.

Thanks for all that info, Micke!
I've been looking into buying the La-La land "Beverly Hills cop" and "Beverly Hills cop 2" film score soundtracks too -did you get them directly from La-La land or somewhere else? Shipping costs, import duties etc. on top of the CD costs makes it pretty expensive.
