Re: Kawai K3m - missing rare part. does anyone make custom pieces? (Update)

Awesome yea pins seem to be reversed on the inline ones that i've found. However with a little careful effort i would imagine it isn't too hard to bend wires around in such a way to go to the correct pins. I did (thanks to one of the parts suppliers out there) get this page which will be very intere...

Re: Kawai K3m - missing rare part. does anyone make custom pieces? (Update)

So i've been diving around today and thanks to the fine chat folks at NTE, this appears to be a modern equivalent. So I'm going to order these and see about that. Will update the progress of this

Kawai K3m - missing rare part. does anyone make custom pieces? (Update)

UPDATE: So my research has discovered that the part I'm looking for is a Sanken Bridge Rectifier. I still don't know the particular specs of it, but I'm digging deeper. QUESTION: Is there not a company or craftsman out there who could effectively make component pieces custom? It seems like these are...

cost effective hardware for filtering midi clock?

I have an older MOTU setup with several MTP AVs and a MIDI Express. Overall it works perfectly fine, but I ended up getting a good deal on an Alesis Nitro kit. The issue is that the Nitro brain is constantly sending some kind of midi data. I think it's just clock, but when it plugs into my various 8...

Re: Thoughts on restoring a Kawai K1m Memory Card?

very interesting. it seemed reasonable that whatever that tech was at the time, it wasn't invented by them so it would in fact take some extra effort (and money) to make them only work on their own hardware. good to know some other I don't know what to call that tech. Its battery backed up so it's r...

Re: Thoughts on restoring a Kawai K1m Memory Card?

The plot thickens.. so when i do a SYSEX Get from the card, MIDIQuest actually gets all the patches.. yet the synth only sees the same limited number of randomly placed slots. Very strange. I expected when I did a get form card it would be a bunch of generic K1 patches (what the synth shows and play...

Thoughts on restoring a Kawai K1m Memory Card?

Hi there, I have recently got my hands on a good K1m synth and wanted to get a memory card. I found two and one will format and dump patches to it, but when you take it out and back in, it's totally gone.. however the other appears to work but only certain slots. very few from the full 64.. I have l...

Re: looking for sliding potentiometers for Casio RZ-1

very true.. the slider i bought was on ebay. from a CZ-1 but yea totally agreed parts like this are rare to find.. and unfortunately the sliders for Casio of this generation are kinda odd.. they have 5 prongs for starters.. 2 being for place holding.. so it just isn't exactly generic for a 3rd party...

Re: looking for sliding potentiometers for Casio RZ-1

I'm just not sure at this point. i believe i found a couple of manuals and they all seem to have the same "missing" page.. as in i'm thinking it's not missing.. maybe the parts were somehow found somewhere else.. i know it's not really logical that this is the case, but yea i'm not sure. I know that...

Re: looking for sliding potentiometers for Casio RZ-1

yea seems that the manual there is incomplete.. the last page is the diagram but there is no page that shows what part numbers go.. i see one of the parts I need is #19 but i can't find a chart that would show what part number #19 is. It's the very last page of the manual.. you'd think right next to...

looking for sliding potentiometers for Casio RZ-1

I'm googling and going to a local radioshack-like place to see if they can help but I wondered if maybe someone here might know a nice place. Here are pictures of the two 10k variable sliding resistors from the Casio RZ-1 1986 the smaller one is the volume for the 3,4 sample, the longer one is the s...

Re: best (affordable/free) loop point software?

another good point about zero-x is that it also does a nice job crossfading automatically as well. this example shows two patches I made with it. the first one has some volume dipping. i'm still experimenting with it, but i can tell you it didn't take long at all to get these loops sounding good. Th...

Re: best (affordable/free) loop point software?

tomorrow i'll see if i can make some quick examples of the patches i've made.. i made the mistake of selling off my JX-8P before sampling it like i started doing before selling off many other older samples.. so i used a JX emulator.. forget it's name.. not an official JX8P but pretty close.. and it ...
